Hello StemSocial Community! Welcome to my blog. Nowadays, Cerebral Palsy cases are increasing in Pakistan. I recently witnessed a serious case that I want to share here. It will be an easy guide for all mothers or young girls who are pregnant. Hypoxic shows oxygen deficiency, while Ischemic shows oxygen is not delivered to organs through blood, while Encephalopathy shows injury to brain cells. HIE is the worst condition that is significant to understand for our young generation.

Gynecologist announced that my cousin would deliver her baby normally so no fears for C-section. Unfortunately, the case became complicated with a twenty-minute late delivery. It happened due to Obstructive Labor. This simple mistake has resulted in a big loss and complications.

As the baby was stuck in the birth canal, it was deprived of oxygen. This oxygen deficiency resulted in injuries to the brain cells. In technical terms, we can name this condition Hypoxic Ischemic Encephalopathy.

Hypoxic Ischemic Encephalopathy (HIE) has three stages or grades

  • 1) It can be Mild.

  • 2) It can be Moderate.

  • 3) It can be Severe.
HIE in severe form is deadly and hardly any babies survive for more than one week. Anyway, my Cousin baby is in Now HIE Stage 2. I have witnessed the following symptoms in her.

  • She has Epilepsy

  • She is sleepy

  • She is Lethargic

  • She has a floppy body

The doctor says that she has the maximum chances for CP kids. A kid with Cerebral Palsy can face many challenges. "Abnormal Developments like Big Head, etc, are evident, and Mental Activities like learning, reflexes are compromised. A mother has a delicate heart for her kids. It didn't matter what her baby was, but society has many comments for these sorts of kids. As social critics are common among CP kids, we should do our best to save our kids from the CP condition.

Recommendations:

If it is your first delivery then you should not take any sort of risk. If a normal delivery is impossible, go for an immediate C-section to give birth to a normal and healthy child. My family situation is very bad and it is too hard to explain in words. I did my best to give you a brief case history so that you will get learning from it.

Final Thoughts

No one wants to see her kids having Cerebral Palsy hence we need to understand delivery complications. We should not take risks that will make our kids mentally disabled. It is the 6th Day, my cousin's baby is getting medicine. Due to weak Reflexes, she is being fed by a Stomach Tube. I'm praying for her fast recovery. If you are baby is facing HIE, then you should visit the Peads Department and consult a child specialist or child neurologist. My cousin is receiving Epileptic Drugs as well as Antibiotics. I hope, she will find good days in her life. Thanks for reading and supporting.
