The IEA's 400 million barrel reserve release dwarfs the 182.7 million barrels released during the 2022 Ukraine crisis. The U.S. alone is releasing 172 million barrels starting next week. Similar moves in 2022 helped cool prices, but not before gas hit all-time highs of $5.016 nationally.
