Going for my six monthly medical examination.

Good day everyone. I hope you're all doing well😌. It's been a while since I last posted😬.
The letter for my six monthly medical examination has arrived and I need to do it as soon as possible. In Singapore we need to do our medical every six months. Not because they want to monitor your health, but it's main purpose is for pregnancy checking. They are very strict about us getting pregnant here. After they found out through your medical that you're carrying a baby, on the spot they would inform your employer to book you a ticket to fly home. Not only that, you would also be banned from working here.

That's why most employers warn their helpers in advance to avoid getting pregnant. Not only for our own sake but to protect their money also. Once they hire us, they would pay a bond to their government for us. If any misfortune happened under their responsibility, this bond would be forfeited. I think it's 5k Singapore dollars😌.

Since it's not that far from our house, I opted to walk to the clinic. I just brought an umbrella with me in case the rain poured, and to shelter me from the sun at the same time. Since the weather nowadays is unpredictable it's better to be prepared. I walk slowly as I want to relax my mind away from home😁.

It's a thirty minutes walk and I finally reach the clinic. Only a few patients were there. It took less than 20 minutes and my name was called. My turn.

After paying the fee I went out and again roam around the mall. There's a supermarket inside and I went there to buy myself a treat. Since they always draw my blood, I should treat myself with some sweets and curls.

I ate the chocolate and munch the curls in my way home. I remember the first time I came to this clinic before. My boss just gave me directions and I'm not good at following directions. I even reach the embassy of Indonesia just by walking. I don't know how far I'd go that time. After I again came back and asked people for directions to this clinic until maybe after 2 hours I finally met someone who knows the clinic location and gave me a clear direction. I didn't mention to my boss that time that I got lost along the way. Luckily nobody asked why I took so long. More than 4 hours. Imagine how scared and stressed I was at that time.

After walking slowly and taking my time more than usual, I still reach home after not more than 2 hours of spending outside.

I immediately removed the plaster from where they put it.

I don't know why there are times after they took my blood, a big bruise would appear and sometimes would take more than a month to heal and disappear. I think this one would heal faster. Well that's all for today guys. See you around♥️.

Yes ma'am. Advantage lang sa akin kasi madali lang makita ang ugat, pero masakit pa rin ang needle.

Wow I have always known strict Singapore was strict in the years I worked there on and off, but I see it is not any different now!

Well that is one way to stop workers getting pregnant.
Do you pay for the medical?

My boss pay for it. It's in our contract that she shoulder my medical and dental expenses.
Maybe as time goes by, they implement stricter rules😐😬.

I didn't realize as a OFW you have to get pregnancy tests. Is this pretty typical for all countries?

I'm a wuss when it comes to giving blood. I would have left that bandaid on until it fell off. I tried not to see your wound marks from where the needle was. This kind of thing makes me sweat so you found one of my weakness 😂

Well glad it was a quick and easy trip 😁

Imagine every six months you have to go through this. Sometimes the doctor would missed my veins and he would again poke in my other hand trying to find one😬
I think other countries allow foreign workers to get pregnant. I've heard some of my fellow workers giving birth in the country they are working.😌

No no I didn't just read the first paragraph. I had that happen once I almost passed out. They made me lay down when they drew from the other arm.

I can see it if you were living with your employer I guess if affected your ability to do your job but if you lived elsewhere and had a way to care for the baby than why. What is your opinion on the matter? Do you think it should be done?

Sometimes it's unfair. If you're staying by your own, your still not allowed to have a baby. I know some of my fellow workers here that found the love of their life here and got married. They're still not allowed to get pregnant. I mean unless you marry a Singaporean, maybe can.

That doesn't seem right at all. Sounds like they don't want to acknowledge a natural born citizen from two that aren't citizens. Can you bring your family to live with you?

I can't. Unless I change my pass. It's not easy to apply for it. You need a lot of papers to do and a huge sum of money😐. Maybe for Holliday they can come and visit for a while.

Oh, I thought the medical is to check your health. Sigurista din sila. I love that you gave yourself a treat after your clinic appointment :)

Your boss letting you find the clinic by yourself must be trying to test you hehe.

Strange ruling for pregnancy test, we do six month test for everything high blood pressure, sugar test, sometimes blood is taken, not every time though.

If a nurse or doctor leaves bruising they normally did not apply correctly. Finding you way and heeding the rules is best to follow if you wish to live there.

They see to it that you cannot hide your pregnancy and give birth here.😬😐.
Sometimes maybe they are careless that they cannot find the veins properly.🫤
Thank you for stopping by♥️.

Strange to hear how they try to control births when many are worried about the lack of. Not finding veins, best to warn them before they start.
