Ashlee’s Three Tune Tuesday Picks For 6/17/25 🎸Good Charlotte Tunes!

(Edited)

I’ll be picking three songs from the band Good Charlotte, specifically from their later albums that came after their huge commercial success in America. These albums weren’t major hits in the U.S., but Good Charlotte kept hitting number one in Australia. Literally every release since then has been massive down under. If you’re American, you might say, “I didn’t even know they kept putting out music after the early 2000s.” But if you’re in Australia, you probably think every album after 2003 was a worldwide hit — but nope, just in Australia.

Disclaimer - I do not own the music linked! Only the blog and discussion is me and my property. As do none of us on Three Tune Tuesday generally post original music but I’ve been getting a Hive Watcher account busting my chops so just putting disclaimer. Enjoy the tunes!

First Up!

Good Charlotte dropped Good Morning Revival in 2007, and it was a big shift in sound. They moved away from the raw pop-punk of their earlier albums and leaned into a more polished, dance-rock vibe. Songs like “Dance Floor Anthem” and “Keep Your Hands Off My Girl” were catchy and full of energy, but not everyone in the U.S. was into the new direction. It didn’t hit as hard on the American charts, and some fans were unsure about the change.

But in places like Australia, it was massive. The album hit number one there and the singles got tons of radio play. They toured hard and kept a strong following overseas, even as their U.S. success cooled off. Good Morning Revival ended up being one of those albums that hit way bigger internationally, and for a lot of fans, it marked a bold, new era for the band.

Second Up!

Good Charlotte released Cardiology in 2010, and it felt like a mix of old and new. After trying out a more electronic sound on their previous album, they brought back some of the emotional pop-punk style that fans loved early on. Songs like “Like It’s Her Birthday” and “Silver Screen Romance” had energy, but the album also leaned into more personal and reflective moments. It wasn’t a huge hit in the U.S., but it had a lot of heart.

Outside the U.S., Cardiology did better. Fans in Australia and Europe really showed up for it, and the band kept touring and connecting with their international crowd. Even though it didn’t dominate the charts, it became a favorite for a lot of longtime fans. It felt like a quieter, more mature chapter for the band.

Last up!

Good Charlotte dropped Youth Authority in 2016 after being away for a few years, and it felt like they were just picking up where they left off. The album had that classic GC vibe — catchy hooks, pop-punk energy, and a bit of grown-up reflection. Songs like “Life Changes” and “40 oz. Dream” were basically them looking back on the wild ride, but still keeping it fun and loud. It wasn’t trying to be trendy — just honest and solid.

It didn’t blow up in the U.S., but fans in places like Australia, Japan, and parts of Europe were all over it. Those crowds never really let go of the band, and Youth Authority hit just right for anyone who stuck with them. It wasn’t about making a huge comeback — it was more like reconnecting with old friends.

Good morning 🎸

Get just was curious. I’ve been making music blogs & vlogs here for years and have never seen anything get re blogged by ya’ll? Is it just random? Or is something about my format not getting attention? Just curious, not complaining. I just wanna know if it’s something I’m doing format wise or something. @music-community
I’ve been one of the longest running regular music vlogggers on Hive. Usually 3 music posts a week and I almost always use Music as my main tag. Give me some advice on what I’m doing incorrect to get more reach?
