πŸ‘¨β€πŸ’» ASEAN Hive Community Challenge #72 πŸ₯ͺ The Best Sandwich Wins πŸ” With Ecency Prizes

Greetings ASEAN Hivers, this week's challenge is a sandwich-themed one, and that makes things pretty self-explanatory, but for this challenge it doesn't have to be a recipe post.

πŸ₯ͺ The Best Sandwich Wins πŸ”

πŸ‘¨β€πŸ’» Week #72 πŸ‘©β€πŸ’»

August 21st ➑️ August 28th, 2023

Do you have a recipe for a fantastic sandwich, or perhaps know a place in your area where you can find a delicious sandwich? This week's challenge is all about sandwiches, whether BÑnh Mì, Roti John, or even your own inventive sandwich, all sandwiches are fair game, even hamburgers. Typically sandwiches are more of a western food choice, but there are plenty of tasty handheld treats in Southeast Asia to enjoy.

The French and British did some awful things during colonial times, but I feel that folks in this part of the world have put bread to better use than the former colonial masters. The BÑnh Mì is pretty hard to beat, but I suspect between the kitchens of ASEAN Hivers and all the local eateries we have access to, there are some spectacular sandwiches out there waiting for the limelight. Feel free to share a recipe or even a sandwich from a local shop, including things like price, ingredients, etc.

Week #69 ASEAN Hive Challenge Winners
πŸͺ™ My Hive-Engine Tokens πŸ’±

Β  Β  Β This challenge was quite entertaining for me. The Filipinos dominated with a variety of traditional games, from outdoors to tabletop, and even some vintage shots from the past. All the games in this challenge were totally new to me, and most of all it highlights the creativity of you island folks over in the Philippines. I now want to learn more about the Game of Generals because of this challenge, so that's a win for me as well as the actual winners.

1st Prize πŸ† 10% Beneficiary & 125 Ecency Points

ASEAN Hive Community Challenge #71: Traditional Games (Games from my Childhood Days)
by: @tegoshei

This game is called PLANTING RICE. It's a team game just like the previous one I've introduced. Basically, some soda bottles are placed like in the photo and the players would carry some straws. From the starting point, we need to put one straw in each bottle (planting rice)... and when we're on our way back, we need to get the straw from the bottles (harvesting rice) and pass all the straws to the next player, until every member has done the same thing. The fastest team wins! :)

2nd Prize πŸ₯ˆ 6% Beneficiary & 75 Ecency Points

ASEAN Hive Community Challenge #71 Traditional Games: My Favorite Filipino Traditional Game - SHATONG/SHATUNG/SHATU or SYATONG
by: @diosarich

Good day, everyone! I wish you a peaceful and pleasant day, as well as better health. When I was in grade school, my classmates and I would use up half an hour before our afternoon classes playing Traditional Games like sipa (coconut leaves rather than rattan made into a ball), bending (using a pair of slippers), and jumping this pine, but the most popular among us was shatung, shatong, shatu, or syatong (stick game).

3rd Prize πŸ₯‰ 4% Beneficiary & 50 Ecency Points

Salpakan! A Filipino Board Game that Seeks to Rival Chess | Traditional Games
by: @devowriter

Salpakan or Game of the Generals is played by two opposing players with a neutral third party called an arbiter. The two players are given 21 pieces each, each piece having a hierarchy of rank and functions. The goal of the game is to either eliminate all the pieces of the opponent or have your flag reach the enemy base.

Congratulations to all the winners for the games contest, I could attest those Filipino games. I played them all. The 'syatong' was memorable one as a kid where you had to shout that one word until your Mothers had to call us and had the stick in one hand when we forgot to come home when it was time.

So many cool games, I was only familiar with a few. Here in Cambodia the new generation of kids makes us of flip-flops and sandals for various games. I guess that is a resource almost every kid has, but creativity and imagination is a must no matter where in the world.
