Greetings ASEAN Hivers, @justinparke here with a challenge that will start in the year 2025 and end in the year 2026, and it's all about how you celebrate New Year's Eve.

First of all apologies for the lapse in curation, life has been just short of impossible lately, all explained here in a previous post. Anyhow, 2026 is approaching, and although the international New Year may not be the biggest celebration for all countries, it is celebrated at the same time by all folks around the world, and that is kind of cool. Here in the USA it's freezing cold and I can't imagine doing anything other than trying not to spend money and staying warm.

How do/will you spend New Year's Eve 2026? Don't forget to take pictures because you'll only have one chance 😁 to document this occasion. As with most challenges, photos are the perfect partner to a good story, so show and tell us what you did, where, with who, and of course share the food. Southeast Asian folk know how to have a good time, and my family and I look forward to your posts because it will remind us of why we miss Southeast Asia so much.

Apologies for the long lapse between when this challenge ended and announcing the winners. My stepfather passed away while we were caregiving for him, our village in Cambodia is under attack back in Cambodia, life in the USA is very depressing, and I can't even imagine how we're going to survive three years here while waiting for the chance at citizenship/passports. Anyhow, these purple posts were very uplifting to me during such a tough time. I forgot how much purple there is in the Philippines because of the ube, cheers to you all for that.

Purple is everywhere around us, and it is definitely the color I like, a fascinating color. My collection of purple pictures is not in a day, but for a while I've been saving it and some were just randomly taken, some were tagged with memories. To start with, I’ll share with you a memory of mine in Singapore. A few years ago when I was working there, every weekend, my friends and I went to Clarke quay to hang out. We brought some food, drinks and found a good spot to sit down and have fun together there. When I hear the word "Purple" the only thing that comes in my mind is calmness or relaxation. My mom has insomnia. She can't sleep so she'll smell her Chamomile spray and lit a candle to make her sleep. Ever since a child I love purple stuff and up to now my two beautiful girls Ria @katsuki29 loves purple.
