πŸ‘¨β€πŸ’» ASEAN Hive Community Challenge #158 πŸ‘ Forever Friends πŸ‘¬

Greetings ASEAN Hivers, this week's challenge is all about friends and friendship, particularly friends you’ve known for a long time.

πŸ‘ Forever Friends πŸ‘¬

πŸ‘¨β€πŸ’» Week #158 πŸ‘©β€πŸ’»

May 12th ➑️ May 19th, 2025

Β  Β  Β Family and friendships are something taken much more seriously here in Southeast Asia than in the USA, where I escaped from 16 years ago. I have spent years maintaining one-way friendships in the USA my whole adult life, and I am only left with 2 people who actually still answer their phones. In Southeast Asia there is a better work-life balance and time needed to maintain strong bonds with our fellow humans.

Β  Β  Β With this in mind, I would like you to highlight your close friends(s) for this challenge and/or perhaps some new friends that you think will be in your life for many years to come. Information is of course helpful, so hopefully your friend(s) won’t mind you sharing some stories or details and possibly even photos for those not-so camera shy. Alright, that sums it up, sorry for a later than normal challenge post.

Week #157 ASEAN Hive Challenge Winners
🧣 Traditional Textiles πŸ‘—

Β  Β  Β This challenge was very eye-opening for me because I am only familiar with the traditional dress of mainland Southeast Asia. Despite having worked with many Filipinos here in Cambodia through years, as foreigners we don’t often worry about things like traditional dress in a foreign country, and instead focus on trying to adapt. For this reason I haven’t seen much Filipino traditional textiles, making this one an educational challenge for me.

The Filipino Traditional Clothing Worn On Important Occasions: Barong Tagalog (piña/ jusi), Baro't Saya or Traje de Mestiza or Terno or María Clara, Modern T'nalak Dress and Malong | ASEAN Hive Community Challenge #157 🧣 Traditional Textiles
by: @diosarich

Filipinos are rich in culture, and we have colorful costumes that we are proud to wear on SPECIAL OCCASIONS to showcase our great heritage. Aside from that, we have different ethnic groups in the three islands of the Philippines, namely Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao, that represent the different traditional textiles. In this article I only choose a few of them and here are my picks:

ASEAN Hive Community Challenge #157: Visiting a museum at my former university + doctor’s check-up + 2-hour chat with my landlady auntie = nostalgic Friday
by: @kamustakymmy

I’ve been feeling weird since the start of May but I ignored it. However, it’s getting worse so I messaged my doctor if I can book an appointment. She said 6 pm this Friday. And I was like… whoaaaaaa that’s pretty late! But I really need help so I agreed. Then, an idea popped in my head. My former school was like a 15-minute walk from the clinic. It has this mini museum. I remembered when I was a freshman, we had a tour there and I remembered it has various textiles.

Asean hive community challenge :-157 Welcome to my daughter's collection of traditional new and old clothes
by: @mdakash62

The contribution of cloth as a practical product in our daily life has always been immense. Especially cloth is one tradition and another which is made of yarn. You may know that there are various traditional fabrics of Bangladesh that are well-known in different parts of the world and have been published in commercial form. Along with this, these traditional fabrics of Bangladesh have spread around the world through the export and import of these fabrics. There are various types of fabrics including Thai silk, cotton fabrics, and Bexi voile fabrics. So let's come to the main point.

Above all, @asean.hive, I always respect your hard work.

I express my eternal gratitude to you for making the selection here. Along with the extraordinary skills of everyone here and the great ideas about the art of the subject, we have gained some great ideas. Which we are completely inspired by your organization.

@justinparke sir I always appreciate your hard work.

I appreciate your skills again in this new organization. In this special organization, friendly love and maintaining friendship for life will be a big find for us or for our lives. Friends mean a unique lesson of family. Which we will be inspired to make lasting with friendly love even in the midst of trust, trust and poverty. This is a great organization that I believe in wholeheartedly. The story of my childhood friend from birth to death, maybe I will get a chance to tell it today.

Best regards @mdakash62
