Life has been hectic the last week and I have missed every curation post for at least 5 days. My family and I must depart Cambodia on June 1st for the USA, but several days ago a fleet van from the Chinese casino near us hit my two daughters who were riding a motorbike. The driver was an unlicensed local kid who fled the scene and was followed by some local citizens until he tried to hide at a mechanic's garage.
The police were summoned and I was notified to go to the hospital. Luckily when I arrived my two daughters suffered only bruises, scrapes and cuts, but no head injuries or broken bones. With my daughters still in pain, we were forced to go the police station where a rude and rich Khmer lady showed up to defend her driver that had illegally entered the highway and hit my daughters. The woman talked over me and the police laughed at us, even disagreeing with how much damage was done to our motorcycle.
In the end we forced to accept $300 and a lot of rude comments from the police and the rude underboss lady representing the Chinese casino gangster dudes. Rumor has it the police are paid $60,000 USD per month to allow the Chinese to do whatever they want, so we are just happy the young driver wasn't instructed to reverse and run over my daughters to eliminate any witnesses. So, with that in mind, I am behind on my work and have been taking care of my girls while my wife is out of town for dental work. Thanks for the unwavering support. I'm truly sorry to hear about the predicament your kids went through, @justinparke. It was such a relief that they were safe and sound now. It is disheartening to see how some individuals, especially wealthy individuals, believed they could manipulate the world around them. They do not have dignity and respect, and their harsh words can make communication feel impossible. Unfortunately, even some members of law enforcement can be bought, losing sight of what truly matters.

Hello @justinparke. I’m sorry to hear what happened to your kids, I’m glad they’re okay now. It’s a sad reality that there are people living like entitled individuals trying to control everything using their wealth. As much as nobody wants to normalize it but it seems to be a common occurrence anywhere. Despite this, I hope you and the kids are doing well while trying to keep up with everything you’ve missed.

I'm so incredibly sorry to hear about what happened to your daughters and the ordeal your family has gone through. It's shocking that someone would let a person drive without a driver's license; that is incredibly reckless. I'm relieved to hear that your daughters are okay and that they weren't seriously injured. However, the trauma from the accident and the way the police and the casino representative treated you is completely unacceptable.
Given these horrific circumstances, it's completely understandable that your work has taken a backseat, as your priority is the well-being of your daughters. I sincerely hope they continue to heal quickly, both physically and emotionally. I can only imagine the stress and worry you must be feeling, especially with your wife being away.
