I guess there's no point responding to someone who doesn't care to know the truth. Easy to even find out answers online but we're all too lazy to find out what Jesus said and taught. Instead we prefer to just argue just to prove we are right instead of following God's truth.

Nope. I pray to God everyday since last year and He eventually guided me to praying for souls in purgatory. I too never prayed for them before until He asked me to. So that's why if you'd rather not ask Him about this topic then that's too bad.
Did it not seem odd that God would ask you to pray to God on behalf of souls whose fate is entirely in God's control? Are you sure that God is the one guiding you?
Why pray for souls in purgatory? They are stuck there until the Judgement, per God's design.

I suggest to look up St. Teresa of Avila and St. Ignatius of Loyola and their writings to know why. 😉
