Reflection On The End Of My M.Phil Botany Journey

avatar

M.Phil is that course of my study in which I didn't want to take the admission. Because from the start I listened that M.Phil is a difficult course and totally based on research. As in the last two semesters of B.S, I already did research work and submitted the thesis which was the boring task that's why I don't want to study more and don't want to do such kind of research again.

The research here in my department mostly depend on ethnobotany and phytosociology. Research I did in B.S. related to ethnobotany in which first we induced disease in animals like rabbit or rat, then cured them with plant extract. In B.S because of COVID-19 we got some relaxation and most of our work was just assumption😂. On the other hand I didn't have any interest in phytosociology, no more reason to study Botany. But my friend take admission in M.Phil and insisted me to take admission also. My mother also wanted this and then my father also start saying that degrees are very important now a days and finally I take admission.

That was the good decision, because after taking the admission I feel that M.Phil. is easier than B.S. because our classes held only three days in week, no lab class and we study only four subjects per semester. In first semester, we studied;

  • Climate change and adaptation in plants
  • Advances in phytosociology
  • Advances in Microbiology
  • Plant systematics

While in second semester, we studied;

  • Environmental Biology
  • Advances in Plants Physiology
  • Applied Ethnobotany
  • Ornamental Horticulture

All teachers and subjects were good, but one of them was not good😂, because he daily gave us the homework, plus additional practical assignments.
In both theory based semesters, I tried my best to take all classes, listen all lectures carefully and prepare notes and assignments well.

First two semesters was passed good and during the semester break holidays, thesis supervisor was allotted. The supervisor is of my choice but still I have the tension that which kind of topic she allotted us either it will be easy or not.
At the start of November 2022, my thesis topic Green synthesis of copper NPs from fresh leaf extract of Azadirachta indica was finalized. The topic seem interesting but I didn't know the ABC of it😂. I read literature about it watched some videos on YouTube and completed my synopsis.
Then we start trials for nanoparticles synthesis in our department lab but didn't get any significant result, so in the end of April our supervisor take permission from the HOD of Biotechnology for our work and finally we shifted there. Some biotechnologist students was also working on the nanoparticles green synthesis so they also helped us a lot about different factors necessary for green synthesis of Nanoparticles and also taught us the useage of apparatus.

After getting the nanoparticles in powdered form we checked the antibacterial and antioxidant potential of CuNPs.

Then I start writing my thesis in the end of September 2023.

First our thesis rough binding submission date is 16 October 2023, then it got extended to 30 November and finally last Thursday I submitted it. Before submitting the thesis in department, our thesis already checked by Mam and we corrected our mistakes I hope now everything will be fine in it.

Closing Thoughts:

M.Phil adventure was good and two years passed liked two months. I spent good times with my friends 💕 and also this research Nanoparticles green synthesis developed interest inside me to continue my research in this field, but P.H.D is difficult and am already tired from my study routine. Am missing my student life little bit, but also enjoying sleep well without the books, bags, laptop and any headache of going to the institute so now I will never join any course of study 😂.

Thanks For Reading.......!
