Am I Aiming Too High?

Lately, there has been a recurring topic in my Splinterlands posts... as shown by many of the posts I've published over the past three weeks:

Since the shutdown of Splex.gg and the discontinuation of the automatic card rental service known as Rental Golem, I’ve been wondering whether an alternative exists – it seems not – or if I could do something myself.

This second question is the one I’ve focused on, especially since rentals have now become seasonal, and I realized that perhaps there wasn’t a valid reason to pay someone else to do something I could do myself with minimal effort.




Maximum Yield, Minimum Effort

So, I started seriously considering a very simple idea: if Rental Golem no longer exists, why not create something that performs its functions in a similar way?

Because, all in all, what I need to rent out my cards efficiently while spending as little time as possible is just one piece of information: at what price should I list a card for rent?

If I could get, whenever I wanted, this answer in just a few seconds, manually renting out my cards would become a very quick and easy task – especially since I don’t own that many cards.

Not only that, but what if I could also automatically set the correct price for each card and then submit everything in a single transaction, perhaps authorized via KeyChain?

Essentially, I would have recreated, on a very small and rudimentary scale, an automated management system for renting out my cards.

I could rent out my cards with almost no effort and without having to pay any fees.




The Plan

This is the idea I’m working on.

It’s a fairly ambitious project, especially since I’ll need to figure out how to integrate KeyChain into my script.

However, I’m already making progress, identifying the APIs I need and gathering the necessary data so that I can use it efficiently.

I’ll also need to determine how to use this data: for example, once I’ve collected all the rental prices of a specific card over the last 14 days, what should I do with this information? Should I calculate an average price and list my card at that value? Or should I set it slightly lower or higher? Perhaps I should use the median price instead?

I’ll definitely need to run some tests – probably quite a few – before I can get this to work properly.

My only hope is that I’m not aiming too high and end up stuck in a project I can’t make work…

... but you learn by making mistakes, so at worst, I’ll have at least gained some new knowledge!

Sto Puntando Troppo in Alto?

Ultimamente su Splinterlands c'è un argomento molto ricorrente nei miei post... lo dimostrano molti dei post che ho pubblicato nelle scorse tre settimane:

A partire dalla chiusura di Splex.gg e dalla cessazione del servizio di rent automatico delle carte noto come Rental Golem, mi sono infatti chiesto se esisteva una qualche alternativa - sembrerebbe di no - o se potevo fare io stesso qualcosa.

Questa seconda domanda è quella sulla quale poi mi sono concentrato, anche perchè nel mentre i noleggi sono diventati stagionali e mi sono accorto di come, in effetti, forse non ci fossero ragioni valide per pagare qualcun altro per fare qualcosa che potevo fare anch'io con poco sforzo.




Massimo rendimento, minimo sforzo

Ecco che quindi ho iniziato a valutare con attenzione un'idea molto semplice: se il Rental Golem non esiste più, perchè non creo io qualcosa che svolga le sue funzioni in maniera simile?

Perchè, di base, tutto ciò di cui ho bisogno per noleggiare le mie carte al meglio impiegando meno tempo possibile è soltanto una informazione: a quale prezzo mi conviene mettere a noleggio una carta?

Se avessi ogni volta che lo desidero questa risposta a disposizione in qualche secondo, ecco che noleggiare le mie carte manualmente diverrebbe un'attività molto semplice e veloce - anche perchè io ho poche carte.

Non solo, e se potessi anche impostare automaticamente prezzo corretto su ciascuna carta e poi inviare tutto con una transazione, magari autorizzata tramite KeyCahin?

In pratica avrei ricreato, molto in piccola ed in maniera rudimentale, un sistema di gestione automatica del noleggio delle mie carte.

Potrei noleggiare le mie carte senza dover fare quasi nulla e senza dover più pagare alcuna commissione.




Il piano è questo

Questa è l'idea su cui sto ragionando.

Si tratta di un qualcosa di abbastanza ambizioso, soprattutto perchè dovrò capire come integrare KeyChain nel mio script.

Sto però già facendo dei progressi, identificando quelle API di cui ho bisogno e raccogliendo i dati in modo da poterli poi utilizzare con facilità.

Dovrò anche capire come utilizzare questi dati: ad esempio, una volta raccolti tutti i prezzi di noleggio di una carta negli ultimi 14 giorni, cosa dovrò fare con questa informazione? Calcolare un valore medio e mettere la mia carta sul mercato a quel prezzo? Oppure metterla ad un prezzo un po' più basso o più alto? Forse dovrei ricorrere al prezzo mediano ed usare quello?

Sicuramente dovrò fare dei tentativi, magari anche molti, prima di riuscire a far funzionare questa cosa.

La mia speranza è solo quella di non star puntando troppo in alto e di ritrovarmi impantanato in un progetto che non riesco a far funzionare...

... ma sbagliando si impara, per cui male che vada avrò almeno incrementato le mie conoscenze!

I tuoi progressi in merito sono sempre molto interessanti. Ma dimmi, se uno volesse iniziare a masticare quello che stai facendo, da dove potrebbe partire? Tu da dove sei partito?
