The Faith-Inspiring Story of Two Brothers from Bani Israel

Among the Bani Israel people were two of their siblings. One of them was pious and moral, and he frequently inspired others to follow Allah. The other brother, meanwhile, had a deep-seated fear of Allah in spite of his transgressions.He would frequently receive advice from the upright brother: "My brother! Before it's too late to repent form you're misdeeds, fear Allah, and repent. The wicked brother, fed up with the constant counsel, once retorted: "Has Allah appointed you as my protector? Let me handle things on my own!" The just brother became enraged after hearing this and declared, "By Allah, He will never forgive you!"

This assertion was disapproved of by Allah Ta'ala. "Who is he to decide regarding My servant?" Allah asked Prophet Musa (Moses, peace be upon him) in a revelation. I am really merciful and will forgive every person.

While the virtuous brother who was arrogant about his worship lost his good acts due to his pride, Allah pardoned the sinful brother.
