Celebrations of my Birthday and how it Coincided with my Hive Birthday [EN - FR]

(Edited)

Hi everyone, I hope you are well. A few days ago, my partner and I went to celebrate my birthday in a very good Thai restaurant. It's been a while since we've been to a place, let's just say, of this standard. We often go out to eat, but it's usually in small neighborhood bistros where they eat very well, but don't do anything special. I guess you know what I mean :)

The restaurant is called "BAMBOU" and is located a little below the "Bonne Nouvelle" metro station and the Grand Boulevards in Paris. It was not a Friday, but a Saturday last week. At least it wasn't the exact day of my birthday.

Before I start, funnily enough, my birthday here on HIVE, was indicated to me by a notification. I've been sharing here for 5 years on a variety of topics, but still centered around Nature, gardening, the Arts in general and other thoughts or questions that are close to my heart. I won't mention the fellow travelers who have been precious to me here, I don't excel at that and I figure that those who feel concerned will know it ;)

IMG_2559.JPG

Here is the entrance porch, if you look carefully, you will have the exact address if one day the heart tells you to go there! As you will soon realize, it is a very quiet place and conducive to the idea of spending a good time in an atmosphere somewhat removed from the effervescence of the city and its visual and sound solicitations.

IMG_2556.JPG

IMG_2557.JPG

As soon as you enter, you are welcomed and accompanied to your table. But there, we still had time to take some pictures. By the way, all my pictures are made with my Iphone as I wasn't going to take my camera out and look like a total tourist ^^ !

IMG_2551 copy.jpg

IMG_2554.JPG

One part of the decoration is very sober and the other one is rather original as with this paper and fabric dragon through whose mouth you pass if you go upstairs.

Just before, in front of the reception, we find this wall of very graphic bird cages in a passionate brocanteurs style... and which already announces the continuation of our adventures, but let's not say more about it !

IMG_2541.JPG

IMG_2547.JPG

This is the rest of the route to our table. The whole style is a bit "neo-colonial" I must say that, even if I sometimes prefer more minimal things, we feel good in this calm environment with warm lights.

But let's have a look at the dishes we ordered... Because that's what we're here for after all !

IMG_2525.JPG

IMG_2526.JPG

For the starter, which we shared, we had a cold spicy beef salad. This one was very well spiced, neither too much nor too little spice and we enjoyed it. The second starter was a sea bream tartare which was a very good choice as this dish was more "neutral" in taste, less spicy and was fresher as the fish was obviously raw. The addition of coconut milk and a peanut sauce was subtle and very successful.

IMG_2529.JPG

To tell you the truth, we waited quite a long time for our main courses and we were happy when the waiter finally arrived !

IMG_2530.JPG

IMG_2531.JPG

IMG_2532.JPG

First, you have delicious chicken fried in its own spice mixture with baby spinach and accompanied by toasted cashew nuts. That rice in the second picture was mostly ginger and onions if I remember correctly. It was a pretty perfect combination anyway.

For the second dish - knowing that we shared everything again - it was Pad Thai with shrimps, a fairly classic dish in Thai cuisine but one that can be just as good as not being delicious, not to say worse! Here we were in the first category and once again, we had a great time !

IMG_2533.JPG

IMG_2535.JPG

As desserts - which was not necessarily recommended, as we had already eaten well - we were tempted by this little chocolate and caramelised hazelnut tart. The second little cake is a coconut milk cheesecake with yuzu and a sauce made with Thai basil.

Here is a view of the half-covered terrace where we found ourselves before going to have coffees in the outdoor area...

IMG_2537.JPG

IMG_2539.JPG

Here we are, as announced in the introduction, the environment is very quiet and I must say that we needed a change of air and a breather...!

IMG_2544.JPG

After a short visit to the toilets, where I had to share some of the atmosphere with those very rococo lion-headed basins, we made our way to the exit, the street and the excitement that reigned in the surroundings.

Here, for a change of scenery, we were served 👇

IMG_2564.JPG

We stumbled upon a flea market a few blocks from where we had lunch. And one of the first things that caught my eye was this sort of life-size statue of an alien, quite realistic and with a look that was, how can I say... quite inquisitive !

Those of you who have been following some of my adventures for a while know that I couldn't have had a better suite of festivities as I love yard sales and flea markets !

It's basically a way to travel in multiple dimensions and according to the evocative power of the objects and other wonders you find there.

IMG_2568.JPG

IMG_2569.JPG

IMG_2576.JPG

There is something for everyone, from shell lovers to antique cameras or even for collectors of more or less creepy dolls... There is something for everyone !

IMG_2581.JPG

I look at this book on Freemasons for a few moments but I don't pick it up. It's the second volume in what looks like a pretty big series and then I just have a lot of other books to read before that ^^ !

IMG_2578.JPG

IMG_2580.JPG

We also come across this type of absurd installation as in the two images above, but as this is totally my type of humour, I never get tired of these heterogeneous and anarchic compositions of objects with diverse and multiple origins and horizons.

In the end, I wouldn't have bought anything, but what I saw was clearly enough for me :) I hope you've enjoyed this article and I'd like to take this opportunity to thank Denise, @dswigle, who is responsible for this delightful #MarketFriday community ! Another way to discover the world and its different cultures...

Thank you for reading, I wish you a wonderful day, see you soon,

Happy belated birthday 🎈🎂🥳.

Sounds like you and @technicalside have the same luck! His hive birthday is just a day before his actual birthday. How did you guys manage this 😂. I find it funny.

And wow 😲. This place looks "classy". I get what you mean with not going to places of this standard very often 😅. But it makes it more enjoyable when one visits. And the food looks absolutely amazing 🤩. I can only imagine how lovely it smelled and tasted!

Happy Belated Birthday, my friend! We celebrate birthday week in our house. :) No need to hit the exact day. It is also your Hive birthday? That was a worthy day of celebration, wasn't it?

The entry is interesting and opens up to a peaceful. lovely setting. You give a fine walk-through in pictures, I cannot say that I blame you for not wanting a big camera leading your way. So tourist-like behavior! The charm of it is in its subtle elegance. I must scroll back to reconfirm as this is by how the memory feels. Ah! Yes! even the restrooms with the basins. Who doesn't love that kind of touch? I want one for my house. No, really I do! :)

The food was amazing looking, between your selection and their presentation, it would make me feel pampered and quite looked after. I especially liked the ... No, the honest truth is that any one of them would have captivated my palate. And dessert?? Yes! It is your birthday!! Perfect!

I too love the flea market menagerie of unique items. I spend way too much time when I am caught in one, but, I love every moment of it!

You have brought us on another adventure! It is always a wonderful highlight to #MarketFriday! Thank you!

#MarketFriday began as a way to reach out across the globe and learn about different cultures through their markets, especially local markets and farmers' markets, and eventually branched out and evolved over time from straight shopping to a cultural affair as it highlights how we differ and then again, how much we are alike. We have become a melting pot of culture, but it is still the Rituals, Festivals, food, architecture, and even your language/languages that separate us... Along with the fact that these things are normal for us. There are unwritten rules that rule our social behaviors. I see this as allowing for increased tolerance between cultures and nations, and opportunities to come together on an even playing ground. A strong culture can be beneficial to a country as it promotes unity, especially during a crisis, peaceful debate, and open dialogue. I have learned so much about all of you and it has been an amazing experience. I can only hope that learning about each other can help us work together for a peaceful world.

Thank you for being a part of #MarketFriday

Many thanks dear Denise ! The week birthday week, that's a really good idea that I think I will make mine too from this side of the ocean :)

This was a perfect moment for sure, and about the toilets, I'm sure I can find you a similar basin in the St Ouen flea market... Maybe I can find a pair ? One for you and the other for the country house ^^?

What I like in the end with these places, more than the simple materiality, is the part of the soul that one finds in this material... In the end, this is what all lovers of antiques and beautiful things are looking for!

Have a good day and see you soon 👋😘

Birthday week has been in our family always! One day for the whole year is just not enough! There are so many people to celebrate with, things to do, Best of all, you cannot possible accomplish it all in one day.

A week? It is possible! But more than that is insane! :)

The soul. Exactly. Even out of its place where it belongs, it takes that soul with it. They do have the most amazing things in the markets over there. I loved living in Europe and yet, it has changed so much. (if you are not there and changing with it, it never seems the same again) Well, I can always make new memories of it though. I enjoy your posts, you make them interesting and fun to read. So thank you for that.

Enjoy the rest of the day!

But more than that is insane! :)

Yes, you can't abuse the good stuff haha !

I completely understand and agree with your analysis regarding the Europe and the need to evolve while being there..! Thank you for your kind words, always a pleasure that those get well appreciated. This is the best reward :)

Take good care dear Denise 🌱🌻
