InLeo is a frontend on Hive. There are multiple frontends.
$LEO token is attached to the Hive blockchain as well.
Keys are needed to do anything on the Hive blockchain.
Inleo is on the Hive blockchain so keys are needed. They have just come up with a way to make accounts in which the key management is handled for the user.
You can get your keys and use them yourself, but most people just want to interact without the hassle.
InLeo is really a subset of Hive (a big one).
