PRE-BIRTHDAY WEEKEND

My 56th birthday is coming up soon, but this year, once again, it falls in the middle of the week, so since it is a working day we can't invent many things. So I decided to start celebrating it from the weekend and this Saturday we took a relaxing family day, taking advantage of the fact that my daughter's mother-in-law is visiting the city since Christmas and we shared very nice moments with her.

One of the things I enjoy the most on weekends at home, are the grills and the sancochos, so we got down to work to prepare the sancocho early in the morning, we bought all the necessary ingredients and around noon, we lit the fire in the grill that is located in the lower part of the apartment.

When the firewood was ready, we raised the two pots and added little by little everything we had already chopped and prepared for a while, because I tell you that we made sancocho for the whole weekend. That is, yesterday's and today's, so I already had my good plate for today and I didn't have to prepare lunch, hahaha.

With good music, in front of the pool, dancing, singing, and telling stories, yesterday went by. After the sancocho was ready, and we took it down from the firewood, we waited a little while for it to rest, and everyone drank two or even three soup bowls full. What do you accompany a good sancocho on firewood in this area of the llanera? With cassava, no more and no less.

My craving was to have a sancocho cruzado. Around here we call cruzado, a soup that has several types of meats, in this case, different cuts of beef and chicken, sometimes they even add chicken, beef legs, and so on, but the idea is to combine different meats.

They add lemon to all the soups, I don't, but I tried one of my dishes with lemon and the flavor was very particular, although I still keep my sancocho only with its firewood flavor that makes it more "llanero".

In order not to waste the ember that was left, we put seasoned chicken prey and ate it with cassava toasted on the ember. The variety of foods we enjoy in the llano is extensive, and there is no better way to enjoy a family weekend than tasting some of them.

I can conclude by telling you that the llanera breeze was the final detail of this Saturday, it was blowing so hard that after the soup what I wanted to do was to hang a hammock and sleep for a while, but it was going to get dark and I had to return home.

Today, to continue celebrating my birthday preamble, I gave myself the pleasure of getting out of bed later than usual, and spend the day practically doing nothing, hahaha, well, no trades, because here I am sitting here telling you the story.

Thanks mommy.
Now we have to celebrate them like this, in small parts, hahaha, because you can't do it all on the same day. 😄
