“Our First Public Transport Journey Together: A Simple Day, A Special Memory With New Experience”

Life in the city can be fast and costly. Parking fees, traffic jams, and the stress of driving have become part of daily routines for many of us. My husband and I are usually so used to driving everywhere. But recently, we decided to try something different, to see if we can save costs and how convenient. For our 12 years of being together, this is the first time ever, we took public transport, just the two of us, riding the train and the bus to reach our shop. Maybe for others it seems like a small thing to others, but for us, it was a new experience. And it turned out to be something meaningful. That morning, we left the house with a little excitement and curiosity. There was no car waiting outside, no keys in hand, just us, our Touch ’n Go cards, and a plan to explore the journey together to Kuala Lumpur. We stayed in a condo near the train station. It took just two minutes to walk there. We wait a few minutes for the train. When it came, the doors opened, and we got in. The train was clean and cool. It was quiet inside. We sat next to each other. I looked around. And there weren’t many people, and the train was not crowded. We didn’t talk much during the ride. We just sat there, relaxed and watching the city move past through the windows. But that silence was comforting. It felt good to just be still together, with no worries about traffic or finding parking. We both smiled. Maybe this is such a good idea after all. After getting off the train, we took some time walking and went down the stairs together.

Kuala Lumpur is the capital of Malaysia. And it was alive and full of people going to their own destinations. We are not in a rushing, so we took our time, holding hands, looking around, and feeling thankful for this quiet moment we don’t often get on busy days. We then waited for the bus. It arrived on time, bright and colorful, with other passengers getting on and off. As we climbed aboard, I noticed how easy and smooth everything felt. No need to look for change. Just tap, sit, and go. He looked at me, and he gave me a funny smile. “I think we’re real city folks now,” he joked. I laughed. It’s funny how something simple like a bus ride can bring a different kind of joy. That day made me realize how important it is to slow down sometimes and find something we can save practically. Anyway, not only do we save money by taking public transport, but we also save time, effort to get to the destination, and we also found out how convenient. Driving, we take 40minutes to KL without traffic from our place, Kajang, Selangor. With traffic will take at least 2-3hours.

Taking public transport, we saw how practical it is and money money-saving. By car, gas for Hilux for tow way, 23.69usd plus toll 2.37usd parking, 23.69usd total is 49.75usd. Unless taking public transport, my husband is Malaysian he pays 11.84usd for a month pass for any public transport. And me, as not non-Malaysian, I just topped up my card 2.37usd, and I have already used it to go and come back. I look at the difference, and it’s really a lot of savings. Plus, the convenience of the train station just next to our doorstep, and our shop is just across the road, it is so amazing. And taking public transport may not seem exciting to many. But for my husband, his thankful he experienced taking public transport this time, which he never experienced before, even during his study time. And for me, it’s on top of being with my husband when his having an experience riding public transport. It also takes me, to my old days here in Malaysia, taking public transport to work or everywhere I go. And I also appreciated how public transport gives a sense of community. You’re traveling with strangers, but somehow, all sharing a common path. But we did something together, and that made all the difference. Will we take the bus and train again? Absolutely. Not every day, maybe, but now we know that it’s not just a choice to save money on parking, it’s a choice that gave us peace, joy, and a memory we’ll keep. I’m glad we took that ride.

It was like your dating hihi. For someone like me, yeah commuting was just a normal routine in my life, it was fun, hassle and sometimes make your mood happy or bad 😅 but I've been used to it since we don't have a car. But I am happy for your guys because you tried to do something that was out in your comfort zone. And I think, comparing expenses may vary in different way. But the important matter that day was you enjoy that 😊 Stay loved and positive 😊
