Solo City's Large Botanical Garden
A botanical garden in the heart of Solo. Quite interesting, especially with its over 9 hectares of land. It's not just a garden, but "TAMAN BALEKAMBANG / Balekambang Park" presents a mix of interesting architectural buildings nestled among lush vegetation.
Come, follow me on my journey. I paid $0.30 at the front gate of the park. Then, after entering the fairly large parking area, we entered the beginning of the park.
Bicycles are available for rent, or you can even rent a horse to ride. Meanwhile, I chose to walk to slowly enjoy the park's beauty.
There's an interesting sculpture in front of the entrance. I can't pinpoint its exact shape, as I haven't found it anywhere else. But I think it's the shape of a whale. What do you think?
The park feels increasingly modern with many interesting shapes in the new buildings with modern architecture. Following the park's revitalization in 2007.
Back in 1921, "TAMAN BALEKAMBANG" was built for the two daughters of the King of Solo at that time.
It was dominated by Javanese architecture from that era, with many shady trees, and a pond that still stands today.
An interesting part of enjoying the entire park is walking along the "SKY WALK." It's like a long bridge between large trees, offering a bird's-eye view of the entire park.
So, don't be surprised if you see many people taking photos on this skywalk to capture iconic moments.
The skywalk's materials are safe enough, even for children. However, full parental supervision is still required.
I enjoyed the botanical garden atmosphere of this skywalk. I was also amazed at how such large trees could grow so beautifully!
The deeper you go into the park, the more it feels like a botanical garden. However, I don't think there's much variety in bright plants, such as flowers. I hope this park will become even more beautiful in the future.
There's a theater building with a unique architectural design. I saw it as a giant caterpillar. It was eye-catching. :)
Then, I enjoyed the part that made me feel like a kid again: running through the maze garden! I felt immense joy running through this maze garden.
I felt like I was chasing a beautiful future full of mysteries ahead. :)

Then, I fed the deer in the park near the maze garden. It's a shame there aren't as many animals here as in the previous version of the park.
I hope this park can be better maintained. Having no trash around is a good thing, because Indonesia still has a problem with public waste disposal.
Well, "BALEKAMBANG PARK" is perfect for those of us who want to enjoy the fresh air amidst the many shady trees. While jogging, or just having a picnic with a mat and our favorite food. :)

I so love the first photo! It is beautiful. The architectural design of everything there is just pretty. And you didn't even pay that much, an affordable price to see its beauty. The skywalk is so beautiful too. There's really a lot to enjoy in there ha.
Yees, the first one looks modern. But I also love to feed deer and enjoying sky walk ❤️
That’s interesting! Somehow I’ve never been to Solo, even though it’s so close to Jogja. It looks like this park would be a great spot for a picnic.
I really hope it stays well-maintained. Just like you’ve said, having no trash around is a huge plus, especially since waste disposal is still a major challenge in Indonesia. They could definitely take a page out of Banyumas’s playbook, their waste management system is excellent and strictly enforced by the local authorities.
Are you living in Jogja? Maybe we should meet up. I often go to Jogja with KRL :)
Ah no, I live in Jakarta. Jogja is my home though, maybe for Lebaran kak??
Boleh tuh :)
This place is absolutely amazing, @anggreklestari!
Plus, it seems to be a great place to visit (and I particularly loved the concept behind it).
I would love to be back there for picnic!
I can clearly imagine why, haha!
Hi there, it’s a really cool and beautiful spot — the architecture is unusual, but I reckon the idea was to let nature take centre stage. It even sparks the visitor’s imagination, who might see whales or caterpillars… haha, just kidding. Still, it could easily be a whale. Cheers, @anggreklestari — lovely to see you enjoying the natural surroundings.
Dimana tuh lokasi nya, cantik banget taman nya mana tau ada kesempatan bisa nongki disana.. sehat sehat mba anggrek. Lama ga join jadi kaku mau mulai lagi hehe
Yes, the ticket is really cheap for this whole park which is so big to visit and after that I must say that crossing the suspension bridge makes you observe even better
a great direct contact with nature at its best
This place is breathtaking. From the sky park down to the beautiful landscape just caught my attention. Animals look so lovely that children for sure could enjoy watching. If given the chance, I would also love to visit Balekambang Park.
