Glowing Camp Fire

Here is a pixel art I made for the elftober prompt : Warm Glow. My idea is to create a night scene with a camp fire so I can best depict the warm glow of the fire. I am thinking embers of red and golden rising from the gathered wood that is lit and an elf wearing a royal blue uniform is holding a torch that lit it.

I started with the color palette

This is basically the palette that I most likely use on the elf I just change the color of the outfit in this case it is muted purple.

I now have a pattern and guide about drawing my elf to keep my future elf characters similar or uniform. Here everything is already done which is quick now for me. I started also drawing the torch to determine the colors of the flame.

The gathered firewood is next. I piled up some blocks of brown in different shades to give it that firewood look. I used red as the base color for my flame. I plan to change it in case it is too overwhelming.

To avoid the red color from overpowering I added this gradient effect as you can see here when I finished the flame and embers . I made a shadow for the firewood so it pops against the background.

Initially I made some trees on the background but the colors are not working they are too dull so I removed the trees and made a gradient plain night sky so the flame will pop more.

The outfit is also looking washed up against the blue night sky so I had to pick a purple that is more vibrant. This is the final colors of the elf outfit. Adjusting each color on each block to show the light effects coming from the flame.
