My dilemma with tattoos | Chonicles # 17 - Tattoos (Eng -Esp)

Greetings dear friends, this is my first post in this community. I am writing after seeing a post by my friend @cetb2008. I have always liked initiatives. In fact, thanks to this friend, I have become familiar with both new communities and various initiatives. My name is Anthony Caggia, and I am Venezuelan.

I should mention that when it comes to tattoos, I really like how they look on other people, especially women (not all over their bodies, but in strategic areas). Let's be clear: tattoos look good on many women. I've never been a fan of men with tattoos covering their bodies, but everyone has the right to do so if they want. Since I was a child, although in my day it wasn't common to see tattooed people, as it is now, and even less so a 14- or 15-year-old boy, I never had any interest or motivation to get a tattoo.

Saludos estimados amigos, esta es mi primera entrada en esta comunidad, lo hago después de ver una publicación del amigo @cetb2008, siempre me han gustado las iniciativas, de hecho, gracias a este amigo hecho conocido tanto comunidades nuevas como diversas iniciativas, Mi nombre es Anthony Caggia, y soy venezolano.

Les comento que en cuanto a los tatuajes la verdad me gusta como se les ven a otros, especialmente a las mujeres (no en todo el cuerpo sino es zonas estratégicas) hay que ser claros a muchas mujeres le lucen los tatuajes, nunca he sido partidario de que un hombre lleve el cuerpo tatuado, pero cada quien esta en su derecho de hacerlo si le place. Desde pequeño, aunque antes en mi época no era común ver personas tatuadas, como ahora y menos a un niño de 14 o 15 años, nunca tuve interés o motivación alguna para tatuarme.

One of the main reasons why I never got a tattoo and why I don't think I ever will is because I'm afraid of the ink used in tattooing. We must be clear that, although in some places it may be of “good quality,” it is a chemical substance that can harm our health in some way (in my humble and respectful opinion). The other reason is because, as I mentioned, in my day it was very rare and was associated with gang members and such, as my friend @cetb2008 rightly pointed out in his post. Also, because I think a lot about how a tattoo done in my youth will look when I am an adult, as our skin will not be the same as it is now, so it's better not to.

Uno de los motivos principales por los que nunca me tatué y creo que no lo llegue a hacer ahora, es el miedo a la tinta con la que se tatúa, debemos estar claros que a pesar de en algunos sitios puede ser de “buena calidad” es una sustancia química que puede perjudicar nuestra salud en algún modo (en mi humilde y respetuosa opinión). Lo otro es porque como les mencione, en mi época eso era muy escaso y se relacionaba con pandilleros y cosas, así como bien lo dijo en su publicación el amigo @cetb2008. También porque pienso mucho en cómo se verá un tatuaje realizado en la juventud cuando ya sea de edad adulta, nuestra piel no será la misma de ahora, así que mejor no.

Today, times have changed, and tattoos are now one of the first things teenagers aspire to. The desire to get a tattoo is more important to young people today than owning a good pair of shoes. This is a deeper issue related to social media, fashion, social validation, and other things, but I won't go into that here.

Hoy los tiempos han cambiado y ya el tatuaje es parte de las primeras ambiciones de los adolescentes. El afán de tatuarse es mas importante para los jóvenes de hoy en día que tener un buen par de zapatos, esto ya es un tema mas profundo relacionado con las redes sociales, moda, validación social y otras cosas, pero no voy a profundizar en eso.

But I have good memories because, as I said, I like how they look, so as a child I used to draw little tattoos with a pen, to get the feeling of knowing what a tattoo looked like on me, well, children's things, but that stage is over now. I also remember some chewing gum that they sold in the local shops that when you opened it, it had an adhesive sticker that you put on your skin, you poured water on it and that was it, and with more water you could take it off again. What times those were of my childhood!

Pero tengo un buen recuerdo porque como les digo, me gusta cómo se ven, así que de niño me dibujaba pequeños tatuajes con un bolígrafo, como para tener la sensación de saber cómo se me veía un tatuaje, bueno cosas de niños, pero ya esa etapa se quemó, también recuerdo unos chicles que vendían en las tiendas del barrio que al abrirlos venia una pegatina adhesiva que uno se lo colocaba en la piel, le echaba agua y listo, y con mas agua te lo volvías a quitar ¡Qué tiempo aquellos de mi infancia!
