День пам'яті та примирення, але аж ніяк не "день перемоги"Day of Remembrance and Reconciliation, but by no means "victory day" (UA/EN)

травень підкрався непомітно, а тому я якось навіть пропустила, що настало 8 число - День пам'яті та примирення. Учора ми вшановували всіх жертв Нацистської Німеччини. Проте, зараз цей пам'ятний день відступив на задній план і та жалоба, яка була колись не відчувається так гостро. Все дуже просто - у нас іде повторення історії, тільки з новими персонажами. Кожен день, починаючи з минулорічного лютого - це жалоба, яка не припинялася ні на день.

May crept up imperceptibly, and that's why I somehow even missed that the 8th came - the Day of Remembrance and Reconciliation. Yesterday we honored all the victims of nazi Germany. However, now this memorable day has receded into the background and the mourning that was once is not felt so acutely. Everything is very simple - we are repeating history, only with new characters. Every day, starting from February of last year, is a mourning that has not stopped for a single day.

Та все ж, поговоримо про так званий "день побєди". Признатися, будучи меншою, я якось не вдумувалася в ті аспекти, якими ми наділяли цей день. Точніше, те, що ми перейняли від радянського союзу, свідомо чи ні. Адже всі ми знаємо чому в срср визначили день капітуляції німеччини саме 9-м травня, а не 8-м. І знаємо, що саме тоді цю дату найменували "дньом пабєди" і наділили сакральним значенням. Цей день святкували на повну, влаштовуючи п'янки-гулянки, що супроводжувались концертами та салютами. Навіть я меншою пам'ятаю як 9 травня для мене було якось супер-крутою подією, адже ми йшли у центр містечка, де була велика ярмарка, якісь концерти та завжди помпезні салюти. Але тоді я не розуміла, що таке війна і до якого біса це відбувається. Пізніше, вже в старшій школі я усвідомила, що нічого веселого у цьому дні немає. На щастя, його перестали святкувати на державному рівні як якусь радісну подію, лише були пам'ятні мітинги та концерти, але ж люди, які звикли до свята...Це жахливо, адже більшість реально не усвідомлювали того, що це їх "свято" - абсолютно таким не є.

Nevertheless, let's talk about the so-called "Victory Day". To admit, being smaller, I somehow did not think about the aspects that we dedicated this day to. More precisely, what we adopted from the Soviet Union, consciously or not. After all, we all know why the Soviet Union determined the day of Germany's surrender to be May 9, and not May 8. And we know that it was then that this date was called "the day of commemoration" and was given a sacred meaning. This day was celebrated to the fullest by organizing drunken revelries accompanied by concerts and fireworks. Even I remember how May 9 was a super-cool event for me, because we went to the center of the town, where there was a big fair, some concerts and always pompous fireworks. But then I didn't understand what war was and what the hell it was going on for. Later, already in high school, I realized that there is nothing fun about this day. Fortunately, it stopped being celebrated at the state level as some kind of joyful event, there were only commemorative rallies and concerts, but people who were used to the holiday... This is terrible, because most of them really did not realize that it was their "holiday" - absolutely not like that.

За останні два роки ситуація змінилася, і більшість суспільства переосмислили, що 8 травня - це не день для веселощів і святкувань. Це жалоба за всіми тими зруйнованими долями, які принесла війна. І саме 8 травня звучали слова "ніколи знову", адже усвідомлення звірств нацизму та війни в цілому не мало допустити повторення історії. На противагу, у расєї кричали "можем павтаріть", що є дуже показовим. І що ми маємо зараз? вони повторили нацистів майже через століття.
І знову світло бореться з мороком. Усі в Європі знають сценарій Другої Світової, і він повторюється. Але також усі знають і те, що в кінці імперія падає, а ницість і зло завжди буде переможене.

Over the past two years, the situation has changed, and the majority of society has reconsidered that May 8 is not a day for fun and celebrations. It is a mourning for all those destroyed destinies that the war brought. And it was on May 8 that the words "never again" sounded, because the awareness of the atrocities of Nazism and the war in general should not allow history to repeat itself. On the contrary, in Russia they shouted "we can fight", which is very revealing. And what do we have now? they repeated the Nazis almost a century later.
And again the light fights with the darkness. Everyone in Europe knows the scenario of the Second World War, and it is repeating itself. But everyone also knows that in the end the empire falls, and baseness and evil will always be defeated.
