ANOTHER CLOSED POLLING STATION

​The doors are locked, the signs removed, and the people left in confusion—another polling station has been shut down. Across the city, citizens arrive with their voter cards in hand, only to find that their right to participate in democracy has been quietly taken away. Some turn away in frustration, others stand in protest, but the outcome remains unchanged.

Election officials cite reasons ranging from security threats to logistical errors. But to those affected, these explanations feel hollow. Why does it always seem to happen in areas where voter turnout is expected to be high? Why are these closures more common in communities that have historically fought the hardest to be heard?
