Index of 1996 - sand sculpture
Anyone who has been using the Hive blockchain for any length of time will know that the search functions need a lot of work and trying to find anything unless you know the exact address can lead to long scrolling sessions.
I have been Geotagging most of my work on Pinmapple as a visual catalog but that seems to be glitching at the moment and lots of my posts seem to have disappeared so I want to try and create my own catalog of my posts to keep things organised.
Starting with this post I will go through year by year and write a small synopsis of each piece with links to the post where you can find out more.
Hopefully, there are some better organisational and search functions in the works by developers but for me, and with no programming experience, this is what I have come up with. When finished I can pin this catalog to the top of my blog and maybe introduce people to posts they may have missed.
So without further ado....
1996
Robot
This was the very first sand sculpture I ever made along with my friend Fergus Mulvany and Niall Magee. Now, before you laugh, know that we all have to start somewhere and this was my baptism of fire. Of course, I played with sand on the beach when I was a child but this was the first serious attempt right outside the government building in Copenhagen.
As can be seen, it was a disaster with terrible sand which kept on drying and blowing away.
Alien mothership
After that ill-fated first attempt, I went to the beach just outside Copenhagen and helped to make this with around 30 other people. It was here that I got my first taste of what sand sculpture could be.
Both of these sculptures can be read about at this link

It might have been a node issue, the network was a bit funny yesterday, but all your posts are still on Pinmapple
I don't know what happened here I must have made a mistake. When I click the icon in my posts which used to link to my page on Pinmapple it just shows all posts. I checked the link and it was https://www.pinmapple.com/?author=ammonite.
It seems that that is not working and I should have just typed @ammonite at the end. Thanks for that info. Maybe something has changed since I started using the original link I had. Seems to be working with the way you typed it.
If you're using peakd you can use their collections thing, it's basically a post that indexes other posts and you can view it either as that (a post with a bunch of links to other posts) or a "collection" (a mini feed of the posts in that collection). As an example ifyou haven't seen it already here's my AER Cameos as a collection and as a post.
Alternately or in addition you could make a community.
As to the sculptures presented here, the very first one was still not a disaster. Remember that most people have trouble making a sandcastle that doesn't look like a hill with bumps on it XD
Wow, I didn't know that was possible. I will look into the collection thing as it may be exactly what I want to do.
I have already registered the sand sculpture community in the hopes that one day I can invite some of my colleagues to Hive.
Thanks for this great information. I really should have known about these things before.
Whoa! That's so awesome! ❤🙏 Alien mothership was amazing 👌👌👌😍😍😱😱
Thank you. These were my first attempts at sand sculpture.
