My Mutation In Life
When I was younger, I thought life would unfold like a movie. You know, inspirational soundtrack, glowing opportunities, people clapping when you succeed. Instead, life looked me dead in the eyes and said, “Here, take stress, add responsibility, sprinkle in WIFI problems just when you need them the most. “
So I mutated. Somewhere between my third broken phone charger and my tenth, “this meeting could’ve been an email.” I stopped chasing the picture perfect life.
My personal mutation was understanding that survival counts as an achievement. If I cooked instead of ordering takeout. Achievement. If I sat at home, instead of visiting friends and burning money on taxi fares. Achievement. If I get eight hours of sleep without binge watching Kdramas. Legendary Achievement.
Now I laugh more at the mess. Plans fail? I shrug. Things take longer? I nap. If I’m asked about my five year plan? I say, “To live and thrive.” My change wasn’t about being Iconic, It was about being content even while striving for better.
Life still can get chaotic, but I don’t fight it as much anymore. For every challenge life throws at me, I mutate into a new version of me, the one that knows how to laugh at the madness or simply ignore it like an unwanted call.
