Snapdragons, the dragon-shaped blossoms, truly vivid and vibrant coloured flowers!

The other day, I got to know, through a friend that Snapdragons are on display and it will be an absolutely wonderful experience to see them as such, beautifully planted amidst #nature and great to observe them with their truly vivid and vibrant colours that are amazingly fascinating.

I decided to accompany my friend and visited there to see the captivating Snapdragons in full bloom and blossom and a wonderful display of magnificent flower.

Here are couple of interesting captures taken of marvellous Snapdragons for you all to watch and enjoy.

Some basic information about this amazing flower is as below:

Botanical name:

Antirrhinum majus

Other common names:

a) Dragon flower
b) Snapdragon
c) Lion’s mouth
d) Dog flower
e) Toad’s mouth

Now, if you see them and observe them very carefully and extremely closely you will absolutely understand as to why such common names have been given to this flower...Its basically because of its shape, style, structure and pattern that resembles to a dragon or even a dog!!!

Quite interestingly, this amazing #flower literally gets its common name for the reason (that pretty often many children do!, even I did as a child, I clearly remember that!!!) is because by softly squeezing/gently pressing its sides, literally makes it creatively snap it open like a dragon’s mouth and that looks truly curiously creative aspect of this flower!.

Snapdragons, comes in Pink, Yellow, White, Purple, Cream, Peach, lilac, Orange-Red and multiple varieties of different colour mixes that look totally charming and fascinating.

The riot of colours is totally enthralling and pleases mind and calms and soothes the senses in the most wonderful manner.

Moreover, some ancient legends/folklore usually believed that these dragon flowers have the power that can ward off curses and evil spirits, such was their belief.

These Dragon #flowers greatly thrive under the full Sun... and do pretty well in partial shade... as well.

Snapdragons... wonderfully blossom best in the cool weather, early spring & fall.

Be amazed to know that... Bumblebees litreally love the dragon flowers and their strong jaws are just so perfect to swiftly open the dog flower's mouth. This truly makes Nature to powerful and creative in its own specific activities.

An interesting fact about the dragon flowers is that some of its varieties actually change its colour as they mature, making them look different from their original version over a period of time.

These beauties have tall stalks and vertical cluster of beautiful flowers that makes them aesthetically and widely used in variety of floral arrangements and decorations besides they are truly long lasting flowers in vases or pots and make any place or surrounding wonderfully decorative, bright and beautiful.

When you see them...they stand upright and vertical...right!!!
Their blossoms greatly grow densely on the tall spikes/stalks, amazingly giving a stunning vertical appeal/presence/display to the #garden.

Nevertheless... in the artistic language of fabulous flowers these dragon flowers significantly represent grace, beauty & strength.

Their beautiful display of stunning flowers with awesome vivid, bright and vibrant colours make them a great choice for flower photography and macro-photography, just they way I loved and liked to capture them and share their great charisma and interesting story with all of you.

Snapdragons are not commonly eaten rather used for planting and floral display for its amazing beauty and wonderful charisma, however its interesting to know that its petals are indeed technically edible and used in certain fancy cuisines for decoration/garnishing purposes.
