Yo!!!
It's always exciting to share new project with y'all. How much I love sewing!
This look is not a regular asoebi look. I'm sure you agree.
Okay, asoebi is derived from the yoruba dialect of Nigeria, which means (fabric for family and friends).
It's a custom in my part of the country to have special fabric for families and friends at a wedding ceremony.
It makes the wedding colorful and also make the guest feel welcomed. It's a culture and it's not going away anytime soon.
One part of fashion I love so much asides Streetwear is the bespoke tailoring. It brings out the creativity in me.
So walk with me while I take you through the process of this gorgeous dress for Annie.
It's a fully beaded lace and so the kind of corset I decided to use for her was the bra cup method.
This requires placing the bra cup on the drafted corset pattern.
The back requires cinching with about 0.5-1inch, depending on how snatched the clients want to feel. After drafting I cut it out including the cup area.
This is the cup cover which I used to cover the bra cup.
It requires a lot of technique to successfully cover the bra cup as it's a fully beaded lace.
This dress stressed me a whole lot and broke many of my needles.
Moving on to my skirt pattern, I drafted a basic skirt and transferred it onto my fabric.
For the sewing part, I placed my Rigilene bonning on the lining which I used crepe in order to create channels for the plastic bonning which will eventually give it structure.
Here's what the back looks like. After that I did lace placement on the crepe.
To attach the cup to the bodice, I used pins to secure so it stays firm while sewing.
I draped the yoke which was a skin net after securing the covered cup onto the sewn bodice.
Here was the first fitting , without embellishments.
While embellishing.
And here's the final look and the hand fan too was made by me. It's usually a souvenir for my clients.
This is one stunning piece I've made for the year. The sleeve and everything looks gorgeous and very unique.
Here's the back view. Peep how snatched it came out without a bulge anywhere. That's the power of pattern drafting.
Images used belongs to me. Outfit cut and sewn by me.
