It's beautiful new week. It's a great pleasure to share with you, yet another outfit made by me.
A Crop Jacket And Pant
It's a good thing to be blessed with clients right? I'm honestly grateful for the gift of them, but meeting up with deadline is another struggle.
It almost feels like the whole client want their outfit at the same time. #Sighs.
Well, this outfit belongs to a new client named Uche. She was referred to me by an old time client and that's another sweet thing.
She came in with a Jokonso fabric and a style in mind. She showed me the style and then dropped three yards of fabrics.
That was the first challenge, because she wanted a long palazzo, pocket on the pants and other little things that would make it hard to make do with just three yards of fabric.
Although I told her it wasn't enough, she said she had already bought it like that, that I should manage it.
Well, I began to rack my brain, the best way to fold while cutting so it doesn't take so much fabric and thankfully I figured it out.
I drafted the basic trouser using her body measurement for front and back.
After which I proceeded to the upper part, which is the jacket. Since it's a crop jacket, I used her waist measurements to get the jacket length using the lapel collar technique.
I went on to sew and ensured I interfaced the appropriate places, so as to eliminate bulge, squeeze and unnecessary stress.
After joining the lapel collar, I ironed to make it flatter and smoother.
A person without patience cannot work with Jokonso fabric as it's too delicate.
Too soft, and needed maximum care while sewing. The secret was using pins to secure them before sewing. It made it a lot more easier to handle.
At this point, I wore it on my mannequin to see the fit, looking out for errors before fixing the skeeve.
I couldn't find any and it fit perfectly. So it was time to fix the sleeve.
I fixed the sleeve and hem the length of the jacket and trouser and immediately I fell in love with the outfit.
She called the next day for fittings and it sat pretty on her. No joy beats seeing your client happy, it melts the stress away.
Its time to show you different angles of the outfit. Here's the front view.
The back view.
The full length view. It's beautiful and classy and I really love the color.
I think I'll make one for myself as well. Hehe. (That's the perk of being a fashion designer anyway.) So over to you guys.. What do you think about the outfit?
All images used are mine, outfit cut and sewn by me.
