Ever had to deal with writers block? How did you overcome?

I've heard so many people ask questions like that and honestly I think I overcame writers block last year when I took up the 365days writing streak challenge.

Firstly, reading helps to fight writers block so much. It opens your mind to new things and expose you to different culture and even style of writing. The more you read, the more you are likely to think outside the box.

Another thing that helps me deal with writers block is a sweet escape which is music. If I feel overwhelmed, I often take a walk and listen to good music and I have noticed that I'm more productive in a very quiet and conducive environment.

Hive has also made it very easy to fight against writers block with the so many prompts available in different community. To make it easier, I only attempt prompts that are so relatable. That way, I have enough to write about and I allow it flow naturally.

The ability to hold meaningful conversations also comes in handy. Having good conversation with people does almost the same thing reading would do to your mind. They help you see things from a very different perspective.

I often wake up very early in morning to doing my daily musings. You can find me where there is quietness and serenity. My mind works better during the early hours of the day, when I'm not yet stressed and troubled. Other times, very late at night, after I've had a shower, eaten and well rested.

You can also condition your mind to be inspired by anything, a song, a situation you find yourself, the stories you've heard from people, and just draft whatever comes to mind.

Visit new places. It can also be a good source of inspiration. Your mind feels more relaxed when you unwind and it helps to combat writers block.

Take good shots and just save it on your draft. You can also get inspired by writing a topic first even without the body of the blog or mere staring at the picture can move you to create something amazing.

One thing I've noticed is, when the mind is overwhelmed, it doesn't stay productive. Look for ways to refresh the mind, either by taking breaks, having a nap, eating right, seeing movies or engaging in fun activities to help you feel rejuvenated.

I have also make it my goal to write about my everyday experience. For instance, ever since the year started, I've been so busy with my fashion school and most times I come home really exhausted. To make things easier, I made my blog more of my experience as a fashion student and it a lot easier to write about what I know, what I do and what I love.

Creating a niche for yourself also plays a vital role to deal with writers block.

Lastly, after trying everything and your head still feels blank. Don't force it. Don't make writing a chore else you feel overwhelmed and bored. Do it because you enjoy doing it. Be yourself and don't try to be someone else. Be original and just write in your way.

I love creativity and the excitement of creating something new, and if I can help others with that, I feel much better.

You are very much correct, reading helps alot it opens our mind to many styles of writing and skills. I agree with you when you talk about the weekly prompt, it makes writing easier because you now have an idea of what to write.
