It is because people have not much to spend on hiring tutors. The outsurge of learning material on internet has made them shift towards those sources leaving the teachers deprived of students.

I still find most people don’t know how to teach themselves a language efficiently, not that it’s hard, they just rely too much on media instead of doing the actual work. But yeah it’s much harder to convince people that I can help. Actually word of mouth is the only thing that works and most people in Japan don’t have big social networks. So I’m going to focus on making music and holding events more, which is also hard to earn money from but at least promotion for that feels more fun

That's the point. Without a proper guide and mentorship we have no idea how to navigate in the world of learning. Consequently, we often end up investing more efforts in comparison to the results achieved

So I’m going to focus on making music and holding events more, which is also hard to earn money from but at least promotion for that feels more fun

So it has emotional wellbeing attached with it. That's a plus
