A Laundry Disaster

Today, when I came back home picking my son from the school, I found a call missed on my mobile. Unlocking the screen, I read the name of my husband, not only in the call log but also in WhatsApp notification. He had sent a voice message.

It is quite unusual of him to call or message me when he is at work. He only contacts when there is something important to be done or informed.

Amidst the moment between reading his name on the screen and opening up his message, my mind made multiple assumptions about the issue the concern could be about.

When I listened to the voice note I found out that the issue was about a thing that appeared nowhere in my mind.

He said that there was a paper in the pocket of the shirt he changed today. He wanted me to send snapshots of the paper.

I could sense the urgency in his voice, and that made me realize a Wahala had happened.

I had already washed the shirt in the washing machine without checking the pockets. So there were rare chances of the paper to be safe.

As he has some important slips of transactions in his pocket, at times, I had no idea about how important the paper was and how it would affect him.

With worries I rushed towards the laundry rope with a hope to find something useful. And that’s what I took out of the pocket.

A folded paper, completely drenched, the layers of which were inseparable due to wetness.

I also found a 10 Rupee currency note in the pocket, which was not damaged, only a little wet. It made me conclude that the paper used in currency notes is of much higher quality. Well, this realization could help me with nothing and the real problem was existing.

Unaware of the extent of the loss, I anxiously informed my husband about what had happened. He told me to send the image of whatever was left. I sent but it certainly was of no use. He didn’t reply back while I felt worried.

I put the paper aside for drying up. However it would take hours to dry up completely. Suddenly I had an idea.

I took out hair dryer and started drying the paper with it. As the paper dried, the layers become separable, though easier to be shredded. Despite being careful, the paper was fragmented into pieces.

I ironed the fragmented pieces and put them together.

Thankfully, a big portion of the writing on the paper became readable.

I sent the image to my husband only to find out that he had already requested his customer to send the order details to him again. 🤪 The paper had order details from a customer

Woooooh! It was a problem out of blue that ate up lots of my time. Have you ever experienced a laundry disaster like this? What did it cost you?

Haha @amberkashif, not just one time, it happened a couple of times! I swore each time that I would check the pockets but of course we're often doing half a dozen tasks all at once!
Glad the laundry mishap had a happy ending😉

Seriously, we are often into multiple tasks all at once. Despite being careful, important things slip out of our mind and then the disaster happens.

Money laundering, literally.
I've accidentally laundered $30 CAD cash left in the pocket one time.

30 CAD! That's quite an amount. Did the money became useless or was it able to be used after drying?
