Victory: A Story That Teach Me About Not Giving Up
Victory is a Korean movie (2024). Korean movies is a more of dancing, singing caring and love, although all was performed in the movie but I must say I learn from it all, every activities in the movie is passing message. Watching, honestly, I feel something different. It was not only about cheerleading, it was more about life, about pushing even when the road is hard.
The story is about Pil-sun and her friend Mina. They are just two normal girls in a small island school, and they want to dance. But the school has no place for them, so they decide to form a cheerleading club, the “Millennium Girls.” At first, it sound funny just to get a room for dancing but from there the whole thing start to grow. They have more students to join them.
What I like most is Pil-sun character. She is bold, loud, sometimes careless, but she have strong fire inside her. She keep going even when people don’t believe, she always wants to makes her possible best in all. I remember the part about her father too, it really touch me, her father really love her. His support, his small way of standing behind her, it feels like that fatherly love we all wish to have when life is not easy. Even when she get in trouble, the love was still there. For me, that was one of the most touching part.
The lesson I pick from Victory is simple don’t give up just because the world is laughing or mocking you. Pil-sun and Mina didn’t stop when people say no. They continue to practice, they continue to smile, and at the end, their cheer didn’t just change their own lives alone, it brings to all the faces of the students and it even lift the school soccer team.
Sometimes in life we feel sometimes small like them, fighting for a right space for us, fighting for a dream. But this movie remind me that little steps, with determination strong can lead to a big victory.
For me, Victory is not only about cheerleading. It is about believing, about support of family, about standing when you fall. That’s what make me love the movie, it a display of not giving up on your dreams.
