Five Minute Freewrite: The Daily Grind
Armed with his placement result, Diego raced home to meet his parents. He was certain that the result will fetch him a model school. He will certainly become a boarder. He remembers his daily grind and laughter heartily. Of course, that will now be passed down to Saviola his younger brother.
When he got home, his parents were not in as they were yet to return from the evening church service, a midweek prayer meeting. He knows he has to wait till they come back. He weighs his options as to the time to deliver the good news to them. He finally settled for after dinner.
Dinner was served and Diego savoured his own and waited patiently for his parents to finish. Once both of them were done Diego cleared his throat and informed them that he has something to tell both of them. They were excited as well a s anticipatory of what the news was all about. Diego calmly told them that he has collected his placement result and that he scored 45 points which is enough to see him enrolled in a boarding school. His parents were happy with the mum even hugging him.
But as they were savouring the moment, a news flash came announcing the release of the results for the entrance exam. They equally announced the cut off mark for placement into the national boarding schools to be 50 points and above. At that moment Diego's face turned red. He knows that he won't be going to the boarding school anymore. The daily grind will always be there waiting for him to attend to them.
