For decades the River Eerie has been the only source of drinking for the Munoz community. The spring water the community fetch does not go out even in extreme dry weather unlike their neighbours whose streams dry off once the harmattan sets in. The River Eerie is usually resorted to by then for sustenance.

Few years ago, a surprise liquid was seen gushing out of River Eerie. This raised serious concerns for the entire people because that is their only source of drinking water. The municipal council was contacted.

When they came they took samples of the fluid-like substance and left. The community waited for few days without any feedback from the government.

Then after about a week news filtered in that the government was done with their findings. River Eerie was proclaimed unsafe for drinking. The results from their lab findings show that River Eerie was contaminated by crude which sipped into it from a nearby ocean where a vessel carrying crude had sunk few months ago.

This news came as a blow for the community and other users of River Eerie. But the government swung into action by providing clean water for them using water tankers. There was also efforts to build a gigantic water reservoir for them. But in the meantime trucks kept supplying water to them.
