Five Minute Freewrite: Not Quite Dead

Katie woke up a bit late. She feels that she is feeling slightly under the weather. The went to the bathroom and cleaned her face with some cold water. She feels that this will give her some respite. It worked initially but after a while she started feeling dizzy and weak. That's a sign of malaria she thought.

She had worked hard the previous day and this may also be the reason for this sudden sickness. A little bedrest and pain reliever may help her gain some strength anyway. She went back to bed thereafter.

But after about forty five minutes, she rose up again when she realized that it is their market day. She needs to buy a few things from the market. Slowly she prepared for the market and when she is through she decided to follow the track road behind her compound.

Having walked for about three minutes she heard a strange awry sound. She was startled but summoned courage to check what was making the sound. It turned out to be a Beaver caught by a poacher's trap. It was not quite dead. Slowly, Katie managed to free it from the trap and the animal wriggled away.
