Don't Pick That!

Joe lives in a area known for mining which dates back to the pre colonial era. Many people from various cultures and colour flock to this enclave to mine the abundant raw materials deposited beneath the surface of the soil.

This business of mining has been going on for years without any squabbles from any quarters. However, recently the indigenes of the host community fel that their government is really shortchanging them. They decided to for a huge alliance. And form that alliance they were able to engage the government, at first, with meaningful discussions about being adequately compensated.

Initially, the government gave them listening ears and attempted to pay them an enhanced compensation. This did not however last long as they tactfully reneged. Angered by the sudden change in plans by their government, the youth took to arms, laying mines and other light weapons throughout the mining field and even on footpaths.

One day Joe was coming back from school and saw a brightly coloured and well decorated mini sized box along the way. He was moved to pick it up and at least take it to a place where the owner can easily be contacted. Suddenly a deep voice was heard from the opposite of the road: "Don't pick that!" He was jolted by the sudden but high pitch voice. He quickly withdrew his hand. The voice contained: "that's a grenade wel packaged and dropped along the road. If you mistakey touch it or even kick it, you'll be blown to pieces.
