Coping without Electricity, Water, and Gas
I think the period when I began to see the relevance of having constant light was in the middle of last year and that was when I started blogging on hive. Prior to that time I normally stayed in lodges in school.
One of the major problems which I encountered in the lodges was the lack of constant power supply. But it was a better option staying at the lodges than moving over to the hostel even though the hostel had constant steady power supply. But when I started hive I couldn't afford going a day without having light so I had to relocate from the lodge to the hostel mainly because of the light so that I could do my blogging without any interruption or having to work around looking for where to charge my phone.
Electricity is no doubt very important. Most people make use of it in their businesses either online or physically. Water and gas are also very useful to everyone. Electricity, water, and gas are things I make use of everyday and it's almost hard to go a day without them. I make use of the light basically to keep my devices on I make use of water for a lot of things and I also make use of the cooking gas to cook because definitely I have to eat.
A scenario where there's no water light and gas for a day or two will not be all that funny. But when it extends up to a month then that is what I call a worst case scenario. Honestly, it's a situation that I can't even imagine or maybe I have not just thought of it. It is really going to take me off balance because these are things that I make use of on a daily basis and having to go 30 days without them would be really difficult for me.
As much as all of them are very important to me I think the one that is hard for me to lose first will be water because when it comes to survival among these three water is takes the top position for me. If I'm faced with this kind of situation the alternative I will have to come up with with regards to cooking would be making use of firewood.
As a matter of fact I've had a friend which I stay with and they were periods where we had challenges with filling our gas and we had to do things the local way and that is by using firewood. In terms of water, if this period happens to be during the rainy season then I don't think I will feel affected much by it because I can simply fetch water when it rains and takes some portion of the water and boil it as a means of purification which I can use for drinking and also cooking.
Such a scenario is indeed really tough. But like people say there is always a bright side even in the miyd of difficult times. In terms of light it may not be that bad because for this period of time it will help me take some time off from my phone and also help me relate more with people around me and also indulge in analogue way of doing things such as reading an actual book that is of hard copy and not a PDF.
It will help me take some time off from the screen which medically it is advisable because staring too much at the screen it's not really healthy. But I am really going to miss the electricity though because I do a lot of things with it. Not having my device turned on for a whole month can really result to me missing out on a lot of things. And when the electricity is restored I will have a lot of catching up to do.
If at all I am faced with this kind of situation what I'll be able to grab from it is that in life one should always have a backup plan because we're uncertain of what can happen the next minute. Another lesson I'll be able to grab from this kind of situation is that too much dependence on new innovations are not truly good because if there be a period whereby they begin to encounter problems just like in this case.
Before the existence of this inventions we were all living fine and everything seemed normal to us. So we should not be over excessively dependent on them.
