Sorry, but I prefer Expresso

I wasn’t supposed to tell this story that follows, since I hadn’t planned to put it on any social network, including Hive. But two things happened that made me change my mind.

Yesterday I went out with my wife and one of her friends to a coffee shop that seems to have become her favorite (lately she goes two or three times a week). Work has been tough, so the goal was just to relax for a while and nothing more. No photos, no WhatsApp stories—just enjoy the moment. Everything changed when I decided to order a Caffè Americano.

I had never tried it before, and I swore it was a very tasty way to prepare our elixir. How naive I was! There I was, a victim of my lack of knowledge and my curiosity, drinking a coffee that I would classify as water with a hint of coffee.

From here on, I owe an apology to those who enjoy this style of coffee, but I’m used to drinking pure, strong coffee. Remember that even though I’m not a 5-star Cuban addict, I’m at least a 4 or 4.5. That prevents me from being tolerant of drinks with a low coffee intensity. After that bad moment for me, I had to order an espresso. That way, when I got home, I could finally say that I had actually consumed coffee.

It’s a shame I forgot to take a picture of the Americano—the container it was served in was so beautiful. But since we’re talking about containers, take a look at the following image:

I was impressed by the design of this cup. It was the one in which they served the espressos, which by the way had a very pleasant texture, and the foam on top seemed eternal. Going back to the cup, I ask you to pay attention to its handle. Did you see how curious it is? Very novel to the eye and for standing out from other coffee shops, but I’m not sure how practical it is for customers.

Even though I held it well, I always had the impression that it was going to slip out of my hands. Luckily, nothing like that happened. And well, enough complaining for today. The afternoon ended excellently.

Remember to drink plenty of coffee—but only enough so you don’t lose sleep. ☕
