No pizza for lunch

Yes, it's late, but Happy Bitcoin Pizza day.

Pizza is one of the most consumed recipes on planet Earth without fear of being wrong. Despite that, I never got to eat a pizza in school.

It would have been wonderful, but that will be for another life. But while we're on the subject of food, I'll take the opportunity to talk about lunch at my elementary school.

My opinion will surely be unpopular among my countrymen. I loved the food at school. It wasn't a delicacy, nor did they serve exotic ingredients, but my palate loved it.

My favorite dishes: fried egg and sweet corn flour. I'm sure I got a couple of laughs out of the Cubans who just read this. There is an explanation for this, and that is that school food was a different alternative to what my mom cooked for me at home.

And don't get me wrong, my mom cooked very well, but when the seasoning is the same every day, my brain as a child got tired of repeating the same stimulus.

Another curious thing about lunch at school was the so-called booster. This was (still is) some extra food the kids brought from home. In this way the caloric deficit brought by the school lunch was combated, in the best of cases.

Reinforcement was one of the easiest ways to define the social difference between children, and in many cases the preference of some teachers over children from more powerful families.

My parents went to great lengths to secure my 10 a.m. snack and lunch reinforcement. I didn't always have meat. Sometimes it was some fried vianda or some platanito.

The truth is that, as I said, I loved the food in that place, regardless of whether or not I had my own reinforcement. At least in my day the economic situation was a little better. Today reinforcement is harder to come by, but at school, lunch is also few and of poor quality.

Let's pray that, at some point, pizzas will invade the school canteens. Only once a year, of course, during Bitcoin Pizza Day.

You're going to need to change the Spanish into English, dual language is not accepted. Let me know when you've done it and I'll unmute the post.
