First Christmas market as a jewelry designer // Premier marché de Noël en tant que créatrice [EN/FR]

Hello everyone! It's been a while since I last posted on Hive, I hope you're all doing well… I'm still reading your posts, but I don't have much time to interact.
In my previous post, I mentioned a little challenge I set for myself at the end of the year, without even explaining it, so I think it's time to do so: I did my first Christmas markets as a creator of polymer clay jewelry and air-dry clay decorations. 😁
I'm very crafty, I love creating with my hands, and for a few years now I've wanted to create and sell my creations (online or at markets). But I had never found the opportunity, or rather, I had never had the courage to create the opportunity.
But this year, I finally decided to take the plunge! I set myself a pretty big challenge: registering for markets, building up stock, and setting up a stall in less than six weeks 😅
I booked three Christmas markets for this season: one on December 6th, one on December 13th and 14th, and one on December 20th.
Once the dates were set, all I had to do was get to work. I dedicated a good part of my days to it for about three weeks, thinking about everything:
- what I was going to create (selecting the jewelry I wanted to make and the decorations in air-dry clay);
- buying all the necessary materials (polymer clay, air-dry clay, paint, modeling tools, etc.);
- thinking about the equipment for the stall (stands, lights, decorations).
In fact, the challenge was even greater because I had never sculpted with air-dry clay before. As for polymer clay jewelry, I'd only ever made it once before.
So, I also had to learn modeling and painting techniques pretty quickly.
Anyway, here are some photos of my creations as they've been going on over the days 👇

And here are some photos of my first stall 👇

My first market went pretty well; I made a few sales. There weren't many people, and the crowd was mostly older (so not my target audience).
But beyond that, I found the experience really enriching. I met people, I chatted, I sold my own creations on my own… It pushed me out of my comfort zone! And sometimes, it really feels good to do things that are a little scary.
I'm pretty proud of myself for taking the plunge! Especially since I was really sick, I had a fever all day, and the hustle and bustle didn't help at all 😂
Anyway, I'm happy! And I'm actually quite surprised by how I handled the stress. I took things in stride, because ultimately, I had nothing to lose by trying. It was a new experience.
In the end, my first market also brought me my first custom order! I'll do a full post about it 😁
So, the bottom line is, if you want to try new things that push you out of your comfort zone, don't hesitate, just go for it! It's so good for your morale to realize you're capable of doing other things!
See you soon,
Johanna

- ce que j’allais créer (sélectionner les bijoux que je voulais créer et les décorations en argile autodurcissante) ;
- acheter tout le matériel nécessaire (argile polymère, argile autodurcissante, peinture, outil de modelage…) ;

Johanna

Wow, this is so inspiring! I love how you took the leap to turn your creativity into something real and share it with others.
Thank you so much! It's not easy to step outside your comfort zone, but it feels good to try new things.
