Black Elderflower Fritters // Beignets de fleurs de sureau noir [EN/FR]

Hello friends and food lovers! I hope you're all doing well. 😁

For the past few days, @genesisledger has been telling me that you can eat black elderflowers. And since we have quite a few in our garden and it's blooming time, we thought we'd give them a try!

We started by tasting them like this, just picked them and rinsed them under water, then we added the little flowers to a strawberry and rhubarb tart... @genesisledger loved it. It has a hint of lychee đŸ„­.

Personally, I liked it a little less. But I don't like lychees either, so that makes sense đŸ€Ł

Anyway, we found a recipe for elderflower fritters, so we gave it a try! And it's honestly not bad 😁

Here's the recipe for about twenty elderflower fritters 👇

Ingredients

1 - beignets fleurs sureau.jpg

  • About twenty black elderflowers;
  • 100 grams of flour;
  • 2 tablespoons of cornstarch;
  • 2 eggs;
  • 1 teaspoon of baking powder;
  • 25 cl of water;
  • 1 pinch of salt;
  • Oil for frying.

Preparation steps

We started by picking elderflowers in our garden. 🌾

Then, I prepared the fritter batter! To do this, I started by adding the flour to a bowl:

Then, I added the baking powder:

If you want a fluffier, less dense batter, you can replace the still water with sparkling water.

Anyway, after making the batter, I shook the flowers and quickly ran them under water.

Next, I heated some oil in a saucepan.

Next, I dipped the first flower in the batter and then dipped it in the hot oil. Frying is quite quick; in 1 minute, the elderflower fritter is ready!

I then drained it on paper towels and added a little sugar.

It tastes mostly like donut batter, and it's quite good. And I think it's quite fun to eat flowers from your own garden. đŸ€Ł

I don't think you should eat too much, otherwise you can quickly get a stomach ache from the fried food. đŸ€Ł It was a good experience.

Depuis quelques jours, @genesisledger ne fais que me dire qu’on peut manger les fleurs de sureau noir. Et comme nous en avons pas mal dans notre jardin et que c’est le moment de la floraison, on s’est dit qu’on allait goĂ»ter !

On a commencĂ© par goĂ»ter comme ça, juste cueilli et passer sous l’eau, puis on a ajoutĂ© les petites fleurs sur une tarte aux fraises et Ă  la rhubarbe
@genesisledger a adorĂ©. Cela a un petit goĂ»t de litchi đŸ„­.

Pour ma part, j’ai un peu moins aimĂ©. Mais je n’aime pas les litchis non plus, donc tout s’explique đŸ€Ł

Bref, nous avons trouvĂ© une recette de beignets de fleurs de sureau, alors on a testĂ© ! Et c’est franchement pas mal 😁

Voici la recette pour une vingtaine de beignets de fleurs de sureau 👇

Les ingrédients

  • Une vingtaine de fleurs de sureau noir ;
  • 100 grammes de farine ;
  • 2 cuillĂšres Ă  soupe de fĂ©cule de maĂŻs ;
  • 2 oeufs ;
  • 1 cuillĂšre Ă  cafĂ© de levure chimique ;
  • 25 cl d’eau ;
  • 1 pincĂ©e de sel ;
  • De l’huile pour la friture.

Les étapes de préparation

On a commencĂ© par aller cueillir des fleurs de sureau dans notre jardin. 🌾

Ensuite, j’ai prĂ©parĂ© la pĂąte Ă  beignets ! Pour cela, j’ai commencĂ© par ajouter la farine dans un saladier :

Puis, j’ai ajoutĂ© la levure chimique :

La fécule de maïs :

Les 2 oeufs :

Et j’ai mĂ©langĂ© :

Puis, j’ai ajoutĂ© l’eau et voici le rĂ©sultat aprĂšs avoir mĂ©langĂ© :

Si vous souhaitez une pĂąte Ă  beignets plus aĂ©rienne et moins compacte, vous pouvez remplacer l’eau plate par de l’eau gazeuse.

Bref, aprĂšs avoir fait la pĂąte, j’ai secouĂ© les fleurs et je les ai passĂ©es trĂšs rapidement sous l’eau.

Ensuite, j’ai fait chauffer de l’huile dans une casserole.

Puis, j’ai trempĂ© une premiĂšre fleur dans la pĂąte Ă  beignet et ensuite, je l’ai trempĂ©e dans l’huile chaude. La friture est assez rapide, en 1 minute, le beignet de fleur de sureau est prĂȘt !

J’ai ensuite Ă©gouttĂ© sur du papier absorbant et j’ai mis un peu de sucre.

Et voici le résultat :

Cela a surtout le goĂ»t de la pĂąte Ă  beignets, c’est plutĂŽt bon. Et c’est assez marrant de manger des fleurs de son jardin, je trouve. đŸ€Ł

Je pense qu’il ne faut pas en manger trop, sinon on peut vite avoir mal au ventre, Ă  cause de la friture.đŸ€Ł C’était une bonne expĂ©rience.
