What Is Your Favourite Movie ?

One of the best ways to relax and unwind the day after a stressful day's activities is either by listening to cool good music or by watching good and quality movie. While Some will prefer action or even romantic movies, others may prefer comedy. Whichever one a person chooses, it should be noted that some sof these movies have gone beyond mere entertainment to education and teaching everyone at large.

Thus said, one may therefore ask, what is your favourite movie? For me a movie I had watched over and over again is SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE [2008].

Slumdog Millionaire is an Indian movie which portrays a boy from the slums of Mumbai who later became a millionaire answering questions on a TV show - Kaun Banega Crorepati, a Hindi Indian version of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?.

Slumdog Millionaire opens with a scene that is well captivating and memorable. We see a young man named Jamal Malik, about to win millions of Rupees on India’s ‘Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? show, but then comes the twist - Jamal Malik surprises everyone by answering every question thrown at him correctly so far, but then as he was just a question away from winning the grand prize, he was subsequently accused of cheating. And as Jamal Malik is being tortured by the Police for rigging the show - their reason? A young man from the slums [of Mumbai] with no formal education cannot possibly know all the right answers without cheating.

Now, to clear himself of any wrongdoings, young Jamal Malik recounts his life story to the Police, illustrating how he was able to answer each question. He draws inspiration from all that has happened to him right from his childhood and that was how he was able know the correct answers to every questions thrown at him.

The movie leaves one with mixed feelings as it goes beyond the nominal theme of two young lovers - a boy Jamal Malik and his girlfriend Latika losing each other and also finding their love back again. It shows a broader theme of corruption and what the average man passes through in our today's world.

I cannot end this discourse without saying something about those hit songs and/or soundtracks played in the movie - Jai Ho, O...Saya and Paper Planes. I love them and I play them all even to this day.
