Hello all Hivians and good people of the Gems community. It is time to tour the globe to have a look at today in history being monday the 23/12/2024. We will commence today's look at history from Russia.

We begin today from Russia [The death of Mikhail Kalashnikov, the inventor of AK-47]. On this day in 2013, Mikhail Kalashnikov the Russian weapons designer and inventor of the AK-47 (which stands for Automatic Kalashnikov Model 1947), an assault rifle that has become more popular in use during warfare died in Izhevsk, Russia.

From Russia, we move over to Japan [the birthday of Akihito]. Do you also know that on this day in 1933, Akihito the Emperor of Japan from 1989 to 2019 was born in Tokyo, Japan. Happy birthday 🎂 to him.

From Japan, we move over to Poland [the inauguration of Aleksander Kwaśniewski as Polish president]. Now, on this day in 1995, Aleksander Kwaśniewski was sworn in as Polish President having narrowly beaten Lech Wałęsa, who was Poland's first post-communist President.

From Poland, we move over to the world of literature [the publication of Emma]. Do you know that on this day in 1815, British acclaimed author Jane Austen published her fourth novel, Emma.

Gentlemen, we'll round off our today's look in history from India [the posthumous birthday 🎂 of Charan Singh]. Do you know that on this day in 1902, Charan Singh a one time Prime Minister of India, albeit a brief one, from (1979 – 1980) was born in Noorpur, Uttar Pradesh, India.
