I will therefore take us round the globe in a giffey to have a look at some of those historical events that took place on this day, thursday the 17/10/2024 in history.

From Canada, we move over to the world of music. Now, on this day in 1972, Eminem, an American rapper and actor who became one of the most controversial and successful artists of the early twenty-first century, was born St. Joseph, Missouri, U.SA.
From the world of music, we move over to China. Do you know that on this day in 1919, Zhao Ziyang, China's Premier from 1980 to 1987 and general secretary of the Chinese Communist Party from 1987 to 1989, was born in Hua county, Henan province, China.
From China, we move over to Italy. Now, on this day in 1912, John Paul I, a pope whose pontificate of 33 days in 1978 was the shortest in modern history was born in Forno di Canale, Italy.
Gentlemen, we'll round off our today's look in from Haiti. Do you know that on this day in 1969, Wyclef Jean, a Haitian rapper, producer, and philanthropist whose energetic, politically charged rhymes and strong ear for melody have established him as a major figure in popular music, was born in Croix des Bouquets, Haiti.
