Larry begins his look at today in history from Mexico. He finds out that on this day in 1862, Mexico defeated Napoleon III's French army at the Battle of Puebla, a victory that became a symbol of resistance to foreign dominance and is today commemorated as Cinco de Mayo, the national holiday.

From Mexico, Larry goes to England.
He finds out that on this day in 1988, Ken Adele, an English pop singer and songwriter whose soulful expressive voice and classically produced songs helped her become one of the most widely popular performers of her time, was born in Tottenham, London, England.

From England, Larry goes to the USA. He finds out that on this day in 1989, Chris Brown, an American rhythm-and-blues (R&B) singer, songwriter, and actor whose melodic voice and excellent dancing propelled him to popularity, despite his troubled personal life was born in Tappahannock, Virginia, U.S.A.

From the USA, Larry goes to Germany. He finds out that on this day in 1818, Karl Marx was a revolutionary, sociologist, historian, and economist. He collaborated with Friedrich Engels to create Manifest der Kommunistischen Partei (1848), well known as The Communist Manifesto, the most famous booklet in socialist history was born in Trier, Rhine province, Prussia [Germany]

From Italy, Larry goes to space exploration. He finds out that on this day in 1961, Alan Shepard, Jr., performed a 15-minute suborbital flight in the Freedom 7 spacecraft, becoming the first American astronaut to journey into space.

Finally, Larry rounds off his look at today in #history from Egypt. He finds out that on this day in 1813, Søren Kierkegaard, a Danish philosopher, theologian, and cultural critic, who had a significant impact on existentialism and Protestant theology during the twentieth century was born in Copenhagen, Denmark.

Having seen all these pieces of historical events, Larry zooms off to begin his daily deliveries.
