Worldbuilding Weekend Prompt #81 Mountain Spirits

Welcome to the next in an ongoing series of writing prompts in the Worldbuilding community !

I'm aiming to post one of these each Sunday. They aren't a replacement for the excellent daily prompts from @worldbuilding they're just an extra opportunity if you have a writing itch you want to scratch. 😀

The prompt this week is - Mountain Spirits

Nowadays, mountains are often seen as just obstacles to travel or as places to climb for the sake of it. But in the past, mountains were often seen as spiritual places. The Incas sacrificed children at the peaks of mountains, the Greeks thought the gods lived on top of one, and volcanoes were seen as powerful forces of nature or entrances to the Underworld.

Tell me a story of mountains and their spiritual aspect in your setting - are they seen as good places, or somewhere to be feared ? What do they symbolise, and are they personified as gods or giants in some way ? How are volcanoes placated ?

Just to add a bit of spice to things, the two entries I most like (and are linked in comments to this post, so I can find them !) that are posted by midnight (GMT) next Saturday will each get a prize of one Hive SBI.
