Worldbuilding Weekend Prompt #122 - The Highest Peak
Welcome to the next in an ongoing series of writing prompts in the Worldbuilding community !
I'm aiming to post one of these each Sunday. They aren't a replacement for the excellent daily prompts from @worldbuilding they're just an extra opportunity if you have a writing itch you want to scratch. 😀

The prompt this week is - The Highest Peak
The greatest mountains are strange places, full of terror and mystique. They can be the homes of gods as Olympus was for the Greeks, sacred places like Mount Fuji, the many sacred mountains of China, or the peaks of the Andes where the Incas sacrificed children to their gods. Some are terrifying places inhabited by spirits, giants and demons (or maybe even yetis). Aokigahara Forest at the foot of Mount Fuji is full of legends about ghosts and demons, and is a popular spot (if you can call it that) for suicides. Or maybe they are just mundane places that are the ultimate challenge for mountaineers. Imagine being the first to climb Olympus Mons on Mars, the largest volcano in the solar system !
Tell me a story about the tallest peaks in your setting ! Are they sacred or terrifying ? Who or what is rumoured to live there ? Has anyone climbed it, and how was that seen by the locals ? Does it have caretakers, either priests or park rangers ?
Just to add a bit of spice to things, the two entries I most like (and are linked in comments to this post, so I can find them !) that are posted by midnight (GMT) next Saturday will each get a prize of one Hive SBI.
This link will take you to the FAQ where you can read more about Hive SBI - it's a project I thoroughly support because it gives both the donor and winner a steady trickle of passive income paid out in the form of upvotes on posts.

I stole these guidelines straight from @worldbuilding prompts (I hope that's okay !), I couldn't have written them any better myself....

Some other neat communities for writing that you might want to check out are:
It can be a lot of fun to mix and match our prompts with some of these other community prompts.
Hi @alonicus. Greetings.
I hope this entry counts

It definitely counts - I love it ! I like how you've done what I often do, take a prompt and twist it until it's something entirely new and fresh 😀
Aww. Thank you. I will do it again every other week then. Please tag me to subsequent ones. Thanks.
