Saturday Savers 2025 Progress Report - Week 38

Well, it's two days late, but here's my #SaturdaySavers update....

How Did The Week Go ?

It's been... the week from Hell. So I've hardly been on Hive at all. It means next week's #SaturdaySavers update is going to be pretty poor. Don't get me wrong, I'm not down and wrist-slitty or anything, just exhausted by the sheer volume of things I've had to deal with in the last week.

With any luck, we're coming out of the other side of it now, although I've still got a couple of meetings to do, a bank account to close, another one to open, two months of bookkeeping to do, Corporation tax to finalise, a bunch of changes to my eBay listings, and a zillion other things to do. I reckon my to-do list is courtesy of Andrex (only those of a certain age in the UK will get that reference 😝).

In terms of HIVE, the price has dropped again, although some of that is relative due to the relatively strong performance of the British Pound Sterling against the US dollar. I expect that could well change when we get the Autumn Budget in a few weeks and the level of taxation increase reveals the true state of the British economy.

But the star of my Hive portfolio continues to be HBD. Even allowing for the fact that it's pegged to the US Dollar, the 15% interest minus exchange rate losses is still better than anything I could get from a legacy bank. It's just a shame it's not pegged to gold, which has been second only to Bitcoin in terms of increased value, and with a much less volatile trajectory.

My goal for the next week is a simple one; post more, curate more, and interact more !

So join ! You don't have to wait until the start of the year. The best time to start saving is ten years ago. The second best time is right now !
