Saturday Savers 2025 Progress Report - Week 27
It's Saturday again already ! I'm not sure where the week went - it seemed to mostly be taken up by real life stuff like doing a VAT return and sorting out yet another mechanical failure with the car (reckon I might sell it soon...)
But on better news, here's my weekly #SaturdaySavers update 😁

Here's my table of progress for the week;
How Did The Week Go ?
Two key things happened this week....
The first was Hive Power Up Day - HPUD. I powered up 50HP, which still leaves me enough liquid HIVE to cover SBI commitments and an option to buy more HBD is the HIVE price increases enough.
Second was HBD interest. I was distracted by reality for a couple of days and claimed it later than usual. The total was 37.024HBD, but that was a 33 day period rather than the normal 30 days. So I reckon the monthly equivalent would have been 33.65 if I'd claimed on the normal timescale.
HBD is definitely the real driver behind my Hive earnings.
Although HIVE has come up a little in price in the last couple of days, the overall pattern appears to be one of bumping along between £0.14 and £0.16. Almost like a stablecoin ! I don't think there's any prospect of a noticeable increase in the short or medium term, and hopefully we'll keep enough activity in the system to prevent any drop below that level.
But this means that HBD is now making 55-60% of the total of my Hive earnings. The only issue is still that HBD is pegged to the US Dollar (the clue is in the name !).
The dollar is falling very fast (even faster than the British Pound !), dropping from 1.24 to the pound to 1.37 today, so my HBD stack has lost around 9.5% of it's value in six months just due to exchange rate changes.
We soooo need a gold-pegged Hive stablecoin !
If you're not familiar with SaturdaySavers, it's a fabulous initiative run by @shanibeer writing as @sally-saver on the @eddie-earner account, where we all support each other in getting to our savings goals.
If you are one of my friends reading this (or just someone who tripped over one of my posts), I really recommend this as a great community that's well worth joining.
I'm normally very disorganised about saving, and the support of the wonderful people in #SaturdaySavers has been invaluable in keeping me focused. I can honestly say that without it, my HP would probably be half what it is now.
So join ! You don't have to wait until the start of the year. The best time to start saving is ten years ago. The second best time is right now !
