RE: Airbus Is Making Billions but their Workers Have to Strike Just to Get a Raise

I've got such mixed feelings about this. For starters, everyone deserves to be paid fairly for the job they do, and should earn enough to live on. But only if they put the work in - I've had employees who expected good pay and then tried to stretch a 30-minute task to fill a day.
But the thing is, Unite are a very active union. They are also very active politically in ways that I believe are not healthy for democracy. They have already got the Airbus workers a better deal than probably 90% of the other workers in the private sector. I'd like to see the union work harder for the people that have been left behind.
The Airbus workers should be grateful they don't work for Boeing, who seem to be having all kinds of issues recently, including whistleblowers dying in "mysterious accidents" shortly before being due to give evidence. Personally on the rare occasions that I take a plane, I try to pick an airline that uses Airbus planes, and have actively tried to avoid Boeings ever since those Dreamliners fell out of the sky.
I think I agree with your perspective... Boeing probably would be worse for these workers. It's sad because people in power could go as far as killing just to avoid being exposed
