My BusyBees & SlothlySavers Weekly Update - 2026 Week 3
The #SaturdaySavers programme run with huge dedication and commitment by @shanibeer came to an end with the close of 2025.
But there are a couple of initiatives to keep the motivation going !
I've decided to post them in the BusyBees Community. This is a community set up to support @zakludick's tireless work in encouraging and teaching newer Hive users. Additionally, I'm adding the #SlothlySavers tag and linking my updates in their weekly update post, because that's another place where former #SaturdaySavers are gravitating to.

How Did The Week Go ?
Tracking Prices
It was another week where real life took precedence - got to love doing quarterly VAT returns, and to top it off the car hit a pothole worthy of Copernicus and it took a day to get it recovered and in for repair.
You'll see I've added a "Metrics" section to the spreadsheet, tracking a selected group of prices of Hive and non-Hive key assets. They're in Pounds Sterling, so I'm also including the GBP-USD exchange rate each week.
This should help me track the performance of my Hive assets in comparison to other major asset classes. I haven't included shares, because I don't have very many and the real metric there is dividend payouts rather than tracking volatility in share prices. Yes, I know crypto is just as volatile, but the main difference is that shares are long-term investments, while crypto has more potential for shorter term trading.
It's notable that gold, silver and BTC (seen as "safe haven" investments) all seem to be reflecting the impact following Trump's latest geopolitical destabilisation effort.
My personal opinion is that the US establishment as a whole has decided that Europe (including EU, UK and European NATO countries) are the main geopolitical/economic competitor to the US.
So far, it looks like at least the Scandinavian countries (and the populations of the UK and Northern European states, if not the governments yet) are willing to reluctantly get into a shooting war to defend Greenland's sovereignty. Failure to do so incentivises other neighbours to go taking chunks of land, particularly the Baltic States. A complex mess, but one where Europe has enough tools in the box to wreck both sides.

Goal Performance So Far
Most of my targets are still in the red, but this early in the year that's to be expected.
The HP goal looks worse than it appears at first glance, because a lot of the gain happens on Hive Power Up Day. We've got one of those in a couple of weeks, and I've got enough liquid HIVE that I can easily pick up any shortfall in reward earnings.
HBD is almost on target. Most of my HBD is sitting in a stop-loss trade - it's a shame (and a slight risk) that HiveDex effectively owns HBD in trades there. If the HIVE price continues to rise, then hopefully soon I'll be in a position to pull it out and put it into HBD savings to increase the interest I earn.
I've focused a bit more this week on comments, but always aiming to make positive useful ones rather than brief one-liners. Quality over quantity matters !
My goal for next week is to try to post at least once or twice during the week, to break the recent trend of only having time to post on weekends. Wish me luck !
