December HPUD And A Few Thoughts on HP vs HBD
It's Hive Power Up Day !
With the recent crazy volatility in HIVE prices and the recalculation created by Hard Fork 28 taking the DHF holdings out of the debt calculation, I've reviewed the risk profile of my portfolio.
Although I'd like to take some profits to recoup most of my original fiat investment, that's not realistic right now; I'd be well over £1000 short even if I liquidated all my HP and HBD. However, HBD is too close to haircut territory for my (relatively low) appetite for risk.
So I took most of my HBD out of savings and turned it into liquid HIVE. I plan to keep a chunk of this liquid, so that if the price hits my stop-loss point or I see a really good opportunity crop up I can act quickly.
However, one of the impacts of the hard fork is to change the way curation works, making it a much more comprehensible part of the reward structure and (hopefully) slightly increasing the rewards available to those who consistently vote.
With all that in mind, I powered up 3000 HP for Hive Power Up Day from the liquid HIVE my HBD had turned into. It makes for quite an impressive HP jump, taking me from 13222 to 16222 HP. Hopefully the bump it gives my vote value will go some way to offset it's drop due to HIVE price fluctuations ! But more importantly, earning more HP in rewards should really show dividends once the price starts edging back up again.
That's a big jump from 13222 HP to 16222 after powering up 3k Hive. I agree that this isn't the best time to sell off Hive because it would result in loses. Congratulations on your massive power up. Enjoy better curation rewards with it.
I've been saving (and buying) HBD for about 3 years, so I had quite a bit to sell. At the current prices, it bought a LOT of HIVE 😁
Woahhh, I can't wait to see what I will achieve here in 3 years. I will write down new goals to achieve in 2026.
A lot of people actually used this dip to accumulate lots of Hive. But I hope things stabilize soon and the price pumps up again.
